The Church never taught that Jesus and Satan are brothers?

by cc may 2012

I was reading an article on Yahoo the other day about Mormons: The Least you Should Know, http://news.yahoo.com/mormons-least-know-155434487--abc-news-politics.html

"Mormons get their own planet"

"Then will they become Gods...they will never cease to increase and to multiply, worlds without end. When they receive their crowns, their dominions, they then will be prepared to frame earths like unto ours and to people them in the same manner as we have been brought forth by our parents, by our Father and God” Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 17:143

The church now denying they ever taught the whole man becoming a god thing?

by normally a lurker Mar 2012

[Mormon Scripture] D&C 132:20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.

Botts BYU Briefing about Blacks Brews Big Brouhaha Mar 2012

by baura Mar. 2012

Randy Bott, a BYU [Mormon University} professor of religion, told the Washington Post that the LDS [Mormon] Church’s historic prohibition on priesthood ordination for men of African descent was a “blessing” to blacks because they were not 'ready' for priesthood authority. “'God has always been discriminatory' when it comes to whom he grants the authority of the priesthood, says Bott... until 1978, the Lord determined that blacks were not yet ready for the priesthood"

Weird things about Mormons and Mormonsim

1) The underwear. Magical drawers that provide an all-hazard barrier and remind the faithful not to have sexual relations with anyone other than one's spouse. They come in a variety of lengths, materials, and styles...yes, you can still get the "union suit version" with the flap in back.

2) Constant turmoil over what is "allowed" and what is not. etc. ...

Mormon Church First Presidency's Officially-Stated Position Against Marital Race-Mixing Remains in Force Today . . .

by steve benson Feb 2012

Mormon First Presidency 1947 Signed Statement: "...From the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith even until now, it is has been the doctrine of the Church, never questioned by any of the Church leaders, that the Negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the Gospel."

The Joseph Smith - Prepared Approved and the Now Abandoned Fifth Lecture on Faith was in the Doctrine and Covenants

by steve benson Jan 2012

Summary - this 1835 lecture makes a sharp distinction between the Elohim and Jesus concerning physical natures. The Father is described as a 'personage of Spirit,' in contrast with the Son who is said to be a 'personage of tabernacle, made or fashioned like unto man. The obvious clash between this view of the Godhead and later statements by Joseph Smith [1838 version of the first vision] himself has been offered as a possible explanation for the 'Lectures on Faith' eventual removal from post 1921 editions of the 'Doctrine and Covenants.'

Word of Wisdom

by Pista Jan2012

Something just got me thinking about the word of wisdom, and I looked it up to refresh my memory on a point. Something I had forgotten about until I saw it again was the verse that reads, ". . .not by commandment or constraint. . ."

Noted African-American theologian and author calls out Mitt Romney on the Book of Mormon's embedded doctrinal racism

by steve benson Jan 2011

Obery M. Hendricks, Jr., Ph.D "Yet I must admit that there is something about Mitt Romney's religion that I find deeply troubling, particularly in light of the possibility that he could become the next president of this nation. What concerns me is this: the Book of Mormon, the book that Mitt Romney and all Mormons embrace as divinely revealed scripture that is more sacred, more true, and more inerrant than any other holy book on earth, declares that black people are cursed. That's right. Cursed. [Native Americans are cursed in the Book of Mormon and Blacks are cursed in the Pearl of Great Price - another Mormon book of scripture]

Thoughts on Correlation

I wasn't going to church when the last round of manuals came out but it sounds like TSCC [this so called church] is trying to just not discuss anything controversial at all. Which means that they are completely neutralizing the lessons.
