I've put a lot of thought into it and I think I'm going to go back to the church. Some here have heard me talk about my break from the church before. I really needed a breather to take things in and get the facts straight. I guess it all comes down to how I feel. I feel good in the Church. I feel accepted, appreciated, supported, and spiritually strengthened in its midst. I couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment from God for leaving.

I thank all of you for hearing me out and letting me vent! You're all the best and I wish you the best on your own spiritual journeys.

With love,
Skidaddle

People who are happy in the Church are the ones who should be there.

What is wrong is the pressure and guilt placed on those who are not happy there, not to mention the shunning which happens way too often.

We should all get to choose what is best for us and be respected for our choices.

I wish you the best on your journey.

+ And I would add, don't participate in the claims of it being 'the one true church' if you know better, regardless of whether you want to continue to be a member. You feel it's the best choice for you, but it is not a healthy one, or 'the answer' for all. Good luck.

Sure, go back -- I know I did again and again .. and again.

But trust me -- you've already touched outside the box. You'll realize how confining and small that box is you want to hop back into. It'll never "be right" again (as if it ever was).

Good luck to you. I'm sure all of us here understand that the way out is a long road.

Every time I "went back" trying to make it work the "spirit" of the place just kept manifesting to me how creepy it all was.

It sure did get creepier the last time I went back to the morg too.

What made it worse was the people there who were afraid of their own shadow. Afraid to doubt, question sincerely, or show genuine curiosity in theology. Anything that deviated from the simplistic Mormon understanding was frowned upon and met with blank, glazed over stares.

People literally feared speaking up for fear of being shamed and ostracized for having a brain.

All that suppression, brainwashing, and dogma suffocates the real spirit and kills a part of one's very humanity.

It's a disconnect from feeling, not getting in touch with it.

I tried it when I was nineteen. It felt like a humorless pantomime.

The name "Skidaddle" hasn't been used before.

Some TBM decides to show up, pretending to be a regular RFM poster, and announces that the church is the place to be after all.

The username is always brand new, never used before. No way to check up on prior posts.

Two from last year, just like this one, no material difference.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I thought it sounded fake. More fakey, flakey, fakeness from another shallow faker.

So you value "happiness" over truth, facts, reality, genuineness...

OK. Enjoy.

Book of Mordor is correct. This is NOT a regular poster and they posted at least this one

Sad isn't it.

Wow. Very sad.

It's pretty telling to me that someone posts something like this on RfM and gets 100% respectful responses. If I posted that I was leaving TSCC on a forum full of TBMs, the response would be opposite.

Way to be RfM. Your respect for another's decision is admirable. Way to rise above.

So "Skidaddle" hasn't really vented here in the past like they have claimed.

Another Mormon lying for the Lord yet again.

Why would God want anyone lying for Him if He is God?

I imagine God would be MORE disappointed by someone lying.

Because mormonism was founded on lies, and they've just never found another way.

Me thinks perhaps some kid on spring vacation.

Yep, you are right. By definition we are apostates here. Which means you need to turn in your temple recommend. You are associating with apostates.

Confidence is silent. Insecurities are loud.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Maybe it's a church employee who they've assigned to keep track of blogs, web sites, etc. and post things favorable to them, even if it's a lie. As a speaker at Exmormon Foundation quoted, "When I worked for the church publicity department, I had to lie all the time."

I wouldn't put something like that past them, after we know they stalked people online to get their real identity, like one of the Mormon Think founders.

Sad, either way, that someone feels they have to lie for this corrupt organization. It's really not worth it.

Appallingly lame.

Good on all the exmos who sincerely responded and were polite despite the obvious cause for skepticism.

Yeah we're not very good at telling people how to live and lying to people.

No doubt you will be happier where the thinking has been done for you.

It's wild that the supreme being can feel disappointment. He's got some personal work to do, I'd say.

There is verse from the Bible that was always present in back of my mind when I was leaving the LDS Church..

"The truth shall make you free."

Look up who uttered those words.

You might want to ponder that.

Note that this post was written after today's dedications. Please cut him/her some slack!

Getting weary of the use of the term "troll". If TSCC is as controlling a cult as you insist, you need to show patience and understanding.

As for the OP and those like him/her, I recommend continually going to church, but never with the same frame of mind again. Show no fear, show mental toughness in the face of threats.

"I couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment from God for leaving."

That's the mormon god - making you feel bad for disappointing him.

So what you seem to be saying is that you realize that the church is BS, but you feel good at church so you're going. How do those two things go together?
