Some years when Christmas has been on Sunday, they have had Sacrament meeting and then dismissed. I don't know if that's up to the local leaders or what?

It's not up to the local leaders. But my local leaders, or at least my bishop, when dec 24 was a sunday, decided to have SM and call it a day. Within three months he was released. And replaced by a holier-than-thou transplant from the USA. I've always wondered if there was a link.
I have no idea, but I know someone who was asked to speak on Christmas lol. What a rude thing to ask someone to do to someone on Christmas morning, and why anyone say yes is beyond me.
Its only Sacrament Meeting. The Church came out with a memo on it. I think its funny they need to do that because you know there would be some overzealous leaders who would hold the full block and shame those who didn't stay.
That's what our home teachers said two hours ago.Since it's only Sacrament Meeting will anybody show up!!?? We meet at 11am but I think my younger brother will be home for Christmas.
My wife's ward is meeting with two other wards in the area for sacrament meeting only. BUT, she has been assigned to clean the church for three hours on Christmas Eve day. All I could say was, "Seriously?" I really thought she was kidding.
My mom likes to hold brunch for family on Christmas Day. Going to church is really going to disrupt the flow. Of well I won't be there. Christmas should be fun and relaxing not family guilt trips and forced religious discussions.
