Rebecca Musser, the author, was a wife of Rulon Jeffs and taught school with Warren Jeffs. If you are interested in FLDS, this is a "must read". It was available on 9/10.

She never was a "Mormon". She was raised by apostates from the LDS faith. Understand the derivation of the word "apostate". It is one who stands opposed to and apart from. FLDS are not to be confused with "Mormons" or "Latter-Day-Saints". It is offensive to see them referred to in these terms.

She's more Mormon, as defined by Joseph Smith, than most LDS are today. Either way, Mormons or FLDS are all the "fruits" of the prophet Joseph Smith. There is no way around that.

If you believe the Book of Mormon to be the true word of god, then you are a "Mormon". FLDS and LDS are both "Mormons".

And the situation appears identical to other Christian sects disputing the right of Mormons to call themselves "Christian." The FLDS crowd uses the same scriptures as well...

And we've had evidence here they were permitted entry into the Salt Lake Temple until Joseph Fielding Smith rose to the role of LDS leader in 1970.

There's similar evidence that other temples, particularly in Manti, are still being used for their rituals, which are identical with regular LDS rituals from 100 years ago or so...

Not that I'm particularly concerned with offending them or not. Lies and revisionist history are "offensive" to me, and they don't seem prone to moderating their excesses anytime soon.

We're here to comfort the disturbed; disturbing the comfortable is simply a collateral act.

I'm linking another thread I posted with a video of Rebecca Musser and an excerpt from her book. Alas, that one was buried...
