I would argue that most of the time, intent is easy to judge from the product. As humans, we are hard-wired to infer intent fast and loose from anything we see. If it's an ad, the intent is probably to sell stuff. Why include sexually appealing images? Because they tend to make consumers happy and advertisers think that if you're happy about the ad, you're more likely to be happy about their s

As I support your right to read anything into my posts that you like. I was thinking about the famous judge when I wrote it. I checked after posting and it's pretty much the dictionary definition. I feel like the judge could have looked it up.

I've heard it defined as a conspiracy by baby boomers. I thought that was pretty funny. A friend of mine likes jazz. I have yet to attend a single party at his house where the collective guests didn't complain within 30 minutes to turn off the ghastly noise. It's torture to most well-hearing people. To me, it is just another expression of pretentious postmodern deconstructionist self-loathi

I think people often don't get how insanely disproportionate the Mormon missionary effort really is. And now, it has also reached the limits of its effectiveness. Time to re-think the MLM-strategy that the Church has employed for the past 50 years. http://www.mormonism101.com/2017/10/the-disproportionate-mormon-missionary.html

I would say pornography is anything that expresses or depicts aspects of human sexuality with the intent to cause a mode of sexual arousal. Took me all of two minutes to think that one up, how hard can it be?

In my case, I like to think only a full lobotomy would do the trick.

I have found that most people who believe in an afterlife, believe they will be with family and loved ones. It's only the Mormon Church that attaches strings to it (which only they can pull, for a modest stipend). Rather than being good for families, Mormonism is highly toxic.

Not a crime, but potentially dangerous. There's a reason why there is a suicide sticky at the top of the forum. I think that extends to other mental health issues. If that makes me a busy-body, guess how many fucks I give?

Probably as bad an idea as getting legal advice from an internet forum. Regarding Seasonal Affective Disorder: a 2016 CDC study among 34,000 people could not find any evidence for its existence. The Cochrane Project can find no evidence for the efficacy of any current "treatment" method. But regardless of this particular instance: don't give or get medical advice, including sug

Aren't you a mod? Are you supposed to dispense medical advice? Who do I report this to? Sounds to me like badass needs serious help, please stop diagnosing strangers over the internet. Sheesh...

For god's sake, get some real help instead of relying on anonymous strangers on the internet peddling pseudo-scientific quackery. Though well-intended, I'm sure, this is actually dangerous.

I think the opposite is the case. Mormons don't view "the Church" as a separate entity, it actually is their identity. That is why we struggle when we leave "the Church". We lose our identities and have to reinvent ourselves (or revert to our pre-Church identities in the case of converts). At the same time, though, because "the Church" is a cult, Mormons don't

What I read about it: Church conducted some research and found that people like Coke and get it off-campus. So they decided to sell it at BYU. What I didn't read but what seems glaringly obvious: margins on beverages are high and they should go to the Church's coffers, not some off-campus gas station. Simple business decision (a.k.a. revelation). Plus now the Mormon kids can be cool too.

When you post a link, best to remove the part after the question mark, this may contain information that can be traced to you, or information to track you. For instance, the site you got this from can now see you're active at RfM under the "anybody" handle.

It can be but doesn't have to. You don't have to borrow the money, you can always work your way through college. Of course, that's a bourgeois ethic that is considered racist today but whatever. Then there's the learning aspect. What a great period in a young person's life to be exposed to all kinds of knowledge generously imparted by learned professors, and to all kinds of different opinions
