My mom's family is mixed with black, white and Native American. The lighter members of the family all converted (all women except my white looking uncle that didn't convert, but his daughters did) and have strong testimonies. My mother being the darkest of the girls converted, but went less active. My uncle that looks 100% black refused because of the priesthood issue (they tried converting him b

Supposedly I was in one of the test countries when Preach My Gospel finally arrived 2004-'06 PMG arrived about a month into the field. I don't know if this was true, but we were given the old 6 discussions in the MTC, but told to put the principles into our own words and then translate them into our mission language and memorize from there until we felt comfortable enough to teach without our mem

We had to stay inside in Japan, but it was too loud to sleep, so we stayed up and ate some traditional New Year's food that the members brought us.

I believe if you leave on your own, you have to pay for your own flight back home. Also, at least in my mission, they insisted on keeping your passport at the mission office for "safe keeping." I never gave them my passport. My 2nd comp wouldn't give it to them either. We're both from border states and knew how important papers would be in a foreign country. My other comps would giv

He used the name of my mission followed by the word for Elder in my mission language. It was an Email with a link to the survey.

I posted this on the PostMo board about 3 weeks ago. I'd like to get any thoughts from the folks here as well: I just received and filled out a post mission survey that included questions about my post mission testimony. I indicated that I did not believe in the church, but did not know that it isn't true. I was then asked if I would be willing to meet with other missionaries from my mission t

I'd like to buy the book, but due to my current situation, an electronic copy would be best for me right now. Has one been made yet? Link? Price?

Fine by me, my parents are dead. If he can get them on the line, I'll stay in the church!

They couldn't have made this easier for me. It seems that someone had my records transferred to the student ward where I live. A friend of mine that is teetering on going inactive informed me about this yesterday. My response: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! They did the work for me! I think it was my roommate as the ward knows where I live, but has not sent hometeachers yet. They've known since March. At an

I go to UC Berkeley and not only would I say that none of that is happening, but that most of the student body isn't having that much sex either. I live in a frat house (I'm not apart of the frat), and aside from maybe 3 guys out of 40 I don't think any of them are getting laid. Kinda makes me wish I would have gone to UC Santa Barbara.

Thanks everyone for the posts, these were pretty much my sentiments. To think that the church would put someone at that age into normal mission work on top of the guilt trips from lack of baptisms, it's shocking. The worst part is that I know she had a lot of money and planned on giving a good majority of it BACK to the church. On the positive side of things, she was the last person I was con

My aunt passed away last week in Utah. While I don't know the full details of her passing, I know that about a month ago she had blood clots. As I have time to think now, she was always tired the whole time she came back from Panama, but found it hard to sleep most nights. Also, she had returned early with an ankle injury (not sure if it was broken) and denghi (not sure if I'm spelling it right)
