This stuff is terrible. His lesbian daughter and "sissy" son. This reminds me of a Christian movie I saw. There is an atheist guy that has a lot of anger about God from his childhood. I kept thinking here would be some sort of moment when the love of God reaches him, a moment of redemption. I stead he gets hit by a car and dies. A born again preacher happens to be there to get him

That is a hard point to reach. So many years of conditioning.

When I was a TBM, I stayed far away from alcohol tobacco coffee and tea. Never ate meat sparingly, never really cared about the rest. They didn't care, so I didn't care.

Everything he said was true. I have always heard people in the church say "if it wasn't true then they would be evil controlling people, but it is true.". People devote their lives to what they believe is inspired by revelation from God. What a total waste.

I have known people who attended LDS church for more than a decade without ever being baptized. You can do that, be part of the community, and soak up all the things you like, but you had better be prepared for the missionaries to be working on you every time a new set gets transferred in. I also hope you won't be too disappointed that they have removed heavenly mother from the books used for c

It's okay, the Lord called them there. I am sure that since the Lord I soured the general authority to make the call that they will be protected. Divine revelation, thank goodness. I mean, if they weren't inspired, and were just winging it, that might be a problem, but these guys are real prophets just like the ones in the Old Testament. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Oh, and if t does the

I used to look at maps of what is in Central America along with the dates the various cities were populated. None of them ever matched what was in the BoM. Before that I assumed that the narrow neck of land was the narrow bit of land between Central and South America (I am sure that is what Joseph Smith had in mind). Then others more learned than I explained that it all took place in Central A

Do you believe in the church? If you don't believe in it then who cares what you tell the bishop. Why even bother going through with an interview? If it is something you really believe in, then maybe you should ask yourself why the Holy Ghost is t telling you that you are doing something wrong.

This reminds me of a very regrettable utterance at my cousin's funeral. He was on a mission in Malaysia. One day while crossing the street on his bike he was struck by a car. He was in a coma several days and then his parents had to let go, over the phone mind you. As a TBM I said to his brother "I am sure he is continuing his mission on the other side". His reply was "I don't

Home. If you don't believe and want a vacation then go on vacation. Want adventure overseas? Go travel in Asia or something? Don't have money for it (missions cost $10,000)? Become an English teacher somewhere and get paid while you explore a new culture. A mission is a miserable place for someone who doesn't buy into the church. Think of being surrounded by mindless believers (of which I

Much of what is being discussed here comes from The Great Apostacy. I read it on my mission. It basically makes that statement and then proceeds to show that the priesthood line in the Catholic Church was broken.

I was really lucky. I had a mission president that basically said, "you are adults, you know what you are supposed to be doing. I'm not going to give you a book of rules.". He also never took the excuse "it's not written down in the rules". It would have killed me to have a book of rules governing my every waking thought.

When my apartment got shot up by a gang, I was told not to tell my mother. I can't remember if I told my dad or not before getting home. they send unsuspecting 19 year olds, now 18 year olds, into places where the police don't go. Not to mention the times a bishop sent us directly into some very messed up situations to deliver excommunication notices. We didn't know that was what it was until

It's sad. On my mission an elder (incredible person) had a problem with a bone in his ankle. He was very gifted athletically. The church paid for surgery to fix it (not a simple thing like a tooth ache) and he is now a professional athlete. Once again, this is nothing against the guy, and he would have been doomed to a life of menial labor in a third world country without true surgery. Howeve

I had a very strange dream once. I was someone else, but I was dead. I went back to visit the place that had been home. I was shocked by how it had changed. It had once set on a hill side with a beautiful balcony. My sister (not my real sister) was there too). I was further shocked to find that the once beautiful elegant home was now crumbling. It had been in a beautiful wooded setting, no

I have always wondered how this sort of thing was supposed to work. I always figured it was just someone imagining things in their mind, similar to how the three witnesses saw Moroni and the plates with their "spiritual" eyes. How does remote viewing work? How does a psychic know things? Do they just know? Is it just seeing things in your mind? I am genuinely curious.

I went to California, and had the blessing of serving in Compton for a good while. Fortunately I was still a TBM and blind to the real danger that was all around me. I saw lots of guns, and had crying drunk people confess to murders. My apartment complex was shot up twice by angry gang members (the manager owed them money). On the bright side, I found the most amazing fried chicken and bisket

We grew up thinking they were heros, and they turned out to be vilains. It's like finding out (in my case) that Optimus Prime was really the worst vilain all along, and only pretended to be a good guy to trick me. The only difference is that Optimus Prime would never do such a thing. Sounds silly, but they were all heros of my childhood.

I would have been tempted to ask some questions back to the DP. "You mentioned sexual relations with animals, is this something you have been thinking of? Is there something you need to discuss with your priesthood leader?"

My parents have spent a ton of money on food storage, most of it purchased from the church. I will admit that it's a good idea to be prepared for a disaster, but what exactly are members of TSCC preparing for?

They never give any consideration to the poor. Suppose someone within their geographical boundaries does not have no et to purchase a suit, and only has a pair of dockers. Is that person going to be banned? I had this problem on my mission. Some of our investigators were very poor. I couldn't stand it when members would come up to us and tell us that we need to tell them how to dress appropr

I have an aunt who married a man from Jordon. I stayed at their house once, and what an experience that was. I was watching a movie when I heard my aunt wanted help taking the trash out. I instinctively stood up to go help when, to my surprise, my uncle came over and asked if I liked the movie. I replied that I did, at which point he insisted that I stay and watch the movie while my sister an
