I gave a few brits a much needed bath the first few months of my mission. They all attended exactly once and then never returned. Then I rebelled and said "Hell no" to manipulating mentally handicap people. I had one baptism in my second 18 months on my mission. It was the sister the the local branch president. It caused her all sorts of marriage problems and issues with her two t

20 years past being 19 years old. # of friendships that have survived 20 years.... 0 # of family members that I still communicate with.... 1 (all the rest chose the cult over me). TBM girlfriend when I went on a mission was married to another guy when I got back. I hear she has been divorced for a decade now. # of regrets I have for leaving the cult at age 22.... 0 My life has had

It actually sounds like a bit of cultural shock as well. In most of the world, inviting someone for coffee or tea is a universal sign of friendship and hospitality. In Mormondom, they are taught this is a horrible sin and run away. They just don't know how to react to the invitation. Saying you drink coffee declares yourself as a heathen. Mormonism also tends to create socially awkward p

I shave about weekly, the day of the week changes constantly. A full beard irritates me and so does a razor. My beard is thick but grows slowly. Three days for me is many men's one day growth. I think I shaved on Sunday. I probably shave again next Monday or Tuesday. My hair grows slowly as well so I only get a haircut quarterly.

Only had a car for two months. It was a relatively small area that we had but we lived a little ways out of it. We'd mostly drive up to a remote area, ditch the ties and tags in the cars. Wear a local sweater or coat and hang out in the parks and shops. Then at the end of the month... Road trip! 300 miles one way is a good stretch when you are in England.

As a lover of pumpkins, that is appalling. I also suspect they are carved in the fake plastic ones. The nuances of shading and the uniform shape of the pumpkins give it away. Somehow their faces on hollow fake pumpkins seems appropriate. BTW my pumpkin harvest was great this year. I grew 42 plants. Next year I am thinking of doing 7,000. Provided I can contract a few acres

The southern blot is a very old technique. It requires agarose gel and nitrocellulose sheets plus a bunch of steps. Most now days testing is going directly from PCR to a florescent bound marker. For trinucleotide repeat issues (same mistake in transcription more than 200 times) the intensity of the florescent can be used to accurately estimate the number of repeats in the sequence. https://e

I rode bus and bike for let me see... 22 out of 24 months in the U.K. This included a few rural areas. The bus drivers would kick you off in the middle of nowhere if you bothered other people on the bus. So there was lots of quiet travel time. I barely avoided accidents daily and ended up in the emergency room for one. I didn't consider it too bad as I was alone with a smoking hot Norwe

From reports I see the lawyer has helped over 10,000 people resign in the past year. He has some other volunteers helping him process the huge workload.

My jackmo brother did about everything you can imagine prior to his mission, during his mission, and after. He lied like crazy and still does. I got him to spill the beans about having keggers in highschool whem my parents went out of town. They told him one of his jobs was to burn a pile a stumps. Him and over 100 of his close friends accomplished this task. The only time I've ever seen

I spent a lot of time doing anything but missionary work. Let's see less actives and video games all throughout my mission. Ohh yeah... Lots of days spent that way. We were fellowshiping them back into the fold by smoking their ass on goldeneye. I once played crash bandicoot so long my thumbs cramped up for two days. Warcraft on the PC in the flat with the office elders was fun. Played onl

I've got some ancestors that married into the Cherokee and Powhattan Tribes. I'm around 1/512th Native American. The rest is all white and delightsome except for the rumors of Gypsy (Romanichals) ancestry in the family history. My boys are now 1/2 hispanic that I tell my wife she is 100% native american. One of these days we'll get her DNA tested to find out.

I have lived in Oregon, Minnesota, California and now Washington. Wages do compensate in most industries for the increased cost of living. For example my TBM sister is a nurse. She worked in Fresno, CA at first. When she moved to Boise her wage dropped by $10/hour. The price of housing was also much cheaper and she bought a similar house after she moved. I have a SIL who is married to a

TBM family who married a nevermo here. Best advice I can give you is to do what I did and go full out public wedding. We had ours at crater lake and had our families and more than a few people who were not expecting to be at a wedding that morning join in. It was the direct opposite to the Mormon wedding, outside, public, and mixed race and ethnicities. My TBM family looked shell-shocked b

I never get people to assume that I'm mormon. 1. I swear too much. 2. At work, I have tea in my desk and drink several cups of coffee in the morning. 3. I talk coherently and often about alcohol. 4. I've worked in scientific fields for too long. 5. I wear sleeveless shirts and shorts above the knee often enough that I have tan lines. 6. I often comment about going fishing on Sunday's.

Enchanted forest is a great place but be prepared to walk a lot. It's a pretty good hike. Also be prepared to watch that little monster disappear into a little tunnel just the right size for a kid. Don't fret all roads lead out to the same place. Just join the other parents sitting on the benches watching their kids streak around. You'll need around 4 hours to cover it all.

I spent years traveling to the southeast for work. When asked the inevitable "What church are you in?" questions I normally had a bit of fun with them. "First church of Lucifer, we meet at the local bar." My preference for professional relationships. It got a laugh out of most of them. Now as for the nosy busybody that you meet in the hotel lobby, grocery store etc..

"Publish or perish" strikes again. A click-baity article title and some very weak analysis and presto you get a headline. The age demographic of of the respondents is also female nurses between 30-55. Hmmm...Interesting choice. The highest rates of suicide is in middle aged males and those older than 80. There is also a very large racial differences in the suicide rates. So i

See now the only reason you got to see that is because you are a sinner and haven't done your home teaching. You need to repent and get started on the busywork.

Nothing science can offer can change your faith if: You put your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and sing "la la la la" the rest of your life. Or: You twist and manipulate your worldview into spectacular irrational knots to try to justify the two together. Or: You are making money from your faith.

They are heavily invested in agriculture and real estate. What this means is that their income is highly volatile and cyclical. Add this in with income from tithing which every income tax state can attest to is also volatile and cyclical. So what does this mean. They need large reserves of cash to keep the whole ship afloat. Sometimes they are making money and sometimes they are not.
