Wow. So I resigned by email last Friday evening, and I just attempted to create an account with lds.org using my membership number and DOB,and it said the numbers were incorrect, Which meanS I'm out! So in all, it only took three days! (Not counting weekend) now I just need to receive the letter in the mail :)

Congratulations! I emailed my resignation YESTERDAY, and I'm glad to hear from someone who used the same method. I can't wait to get my letters in the mail. It will be cause for celebration! I've decided that I'm going to keep my letters (perhaps frame them?) along with some other memorabilia from church. (Temple clothes, temple recommend, BOM, Patriarchal blessing...)

Well we're not moving because we are leaving the church, it just happens to be good timing! I can't wait to move away from utah, and chances are we will never live here again.

I know for us, my husband and I don't want pets because we have our hands full already with our three young children... I know we'll probably get a cat in the future, but adding a pet into the mix would be too much right now.

They did the same to me when my husband and I went to the temple to have our family sealed. They kept calling me "sister maiden name" and I kept correcting them, "no it's sister new name." The woman in the temple told me that they called the sisters by their maiden names until they were sealed to their husbands, as if getting married civilly is invalid...

I actually just made that realization last week. Nearly all of the social interactions in the church are ASSIGNED. And I have always known that a majority relationships people make in the church are mostly just superficial. I am so ready for an authentic life...

That's another thing that gets me. We've only been in this ward for about two years, no one seemed to care that we had a new baby, no one seemed to care that my daughter was in the hospital for two days while by husband was out of town, we've never had home teachers over, and I can count on one hand how many times I've had VT. We're generally quiet people that keep to ourselves, and I don't care

I've been inactive for about 3-4 months and actually just resigned my membership via email last night. (Woohoo!) But for those three months, and even now, I feel so flakey. I asked to be released from my calling, haven't answered phone calls/ voice mails from visiting teachers, RS president, bishop's secretary, and even made up an excuse as to why I couldn't help set up for a RS party (I was on t

What did you do with all your mormon paraphernalia when you left the church? So far I've only "DI"-ed a couple things...

Polygamy isn't taught, BUT it's not denied either. It's still in the D&C. ALTHOUGH it is IMPLIED because a man may remain sealed to more than one wife, but the wife can only be sealed to one man! If polygamy can be disproved as a principle/commandment of God, then so can the whole entire church! It would prove that Joseph Smith was a conman, it sure was convenient for him to recieve commandme

My husband and I were having a conversation similar to this subject. We came up with the idea of what would happen if polygamy became legal (with the way marriage is defined now, you can marry anyone, why not multiple people??). I Would love to see what would happen if it did become legal, would the church start polygamy again? What would people's reaction to it be? If we ever need an example of

Wow. Since realizing that TSCC is such a sham I've expereinced a paradigm shift and i see things differently now. So yesterday when I saw this post I was pretty horrified. Here is basically what was posted: "Child: Mom, I have babies in my tummy and they need to come out! Mother: You can't have babies in your tummy, you are not married. Child: Mom, yes I am!!! Mother: Oh really

Have you noticed that mormons have double standards that put them above everyone else. For example, say a family has a child born into their family that is disabled. If that family was active TBM's people would say that they are blessed and that the child was special ect., on the other hand if the family was not active then people would think/say the complete opposite, that that's what the family

We can't really pull the whole "we're house hunting" thing because we will be moving over seas! I suppose we could use "trying to fix up the house before we move" tactic? Although I don't think that's a good enough of an excuse, not that i think I need an excuse.

We've only missed one sunday! But even with that I had a lady from the primary presidency notice that we weren't there, and I guess I'm just anticipating them noticing that we're not there and making an effort to get us back. At our ward before we would go 50-75% of the time so pretty active but not inactive and we were always getting visited by the EQ president and missionaries... is that normal

Wow, that is despicable. It was my temple recommend interview that eventually led me to question as well. I was asked if i sustained the prophet, but not jesus christ and my heart sunk. It was then that I started to realize that this "religion" is man made.

Wow thanks for all the replies! I'm surprised this topic generated so many comments, but even more surprised that pretty much all of you were active members when you left. My callings do not rely solely on me to get the job done, I'm in nursery and there are like three or four other leaders that could easily do fine without me. And for relief society there are a group of 7-8 ladies who plan the q

We will be moving in a few months as well, but not until spring. I don't think we would be able to stand going for another 5-6 months.

I just posted my exit story... Not too interesting but felt the need to post it to get it off my chest and move on in my life. http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?3,1684756 So my question is, were any of you extremely active in church when you decided to leave. As of now we hold church callings, my husband is the ward membership clerk, and I'm in the primary(in nursery with 4 other nursery

Just a brief background about myslef: BIC in utah, five siblings, father extremely authoritative(all my childhood i was either afraid of or skeptical of all father figures and didn't understand that a father or husband or man could be good, loving and caring), always active in the church, I was always class president in beehives, mia maids, and laurels. I think i was the epitome of what a molly m
