Wow Richard. This is one certainly to archive. Thanks for taking people's calls. You have been a wonderful resource with your writings and your selfless concern for Mormons and ex-Mormons now for over 20 years! You probably have no idea how many you have helped.

We have a neighbor who has been big into aroma therapy. Fortunately she just got real job and I believe her enthusiasm for it will fade away. The smells are good, just not the claims of curing virtually anything. Last year this same neighbor came over while my daughter was visiting. The neighbor insisted we try some lavender to reduce anxiety and stomach issues. I thought, what the hell t

I have been out of town for several weeks to help my mother. She is 86 and now suffering from dementia. I really appreciate our volunteers who help admin the board. This board would not exist without them. We could use one or two more admins. If you have an interest, email me at erickett@gmail.com. I hope I finally have some time to work on the site. Our account balance is $1,873.56. Ou

Good luck with the concert. I play in a few groups and it is always enjoyable when friends show up. Remember you are doing this for yourself. Performing helps me as an introvert. Have fun.

Yes. Absolutely. I try to question and search out all that I can when I hear a claim. These claims can be religious, political, financial, health etc. Perhaps that is one thing for which I can thank Mormonism. It was a rather heavy price to pay to learn skepticism and where and how I can trust again.

I start on medicare in a few days. Sigh... How did that happen? Let's see, my rheumatologist changed my medication to something stronger, my ocular rosacea is requiring a different regime to try to control it and dealing with my elderly mother is stressing me continuously. My wife has been a saint dealing with her. The ocular rosacea is making life more difficult. I used to read 2 books

I have a concert this afternoon at a local community college. I am playing alto sax in a community orchestra. After the concert we are meeting friends along with our daughter and her husband for a dinner at a Caribbean restaurant near Chattanooga. A mimosa or 2 after playing sounds good to me.

It is good to have you back. We hope to hear news of excellent recovery of your son after the surgery. We, as admins. do get frustrated with ugly or mean attacks on individuals here. It seems to be 1-3% of the population of nearly any group has some mean narcissistic individuals who lack empathy and compassion. They also make the most noise and most headaches for us. Once in a while, a

We can move to HTTPS for security on this site. Google will rank higher when using https instead of http. The board looks a bit different when using it: https://exmormon.org/phorum/list.php?2 instead of http://exmormon.org/phorum/list.php?2 Can you let me know of any major issues when using https? Try using when posting and reading threads. Type the full URL using https: instead of

Baura had made a great analogy on the first written version of the first vision. God or Elohim, is not mentioned in the first version of the first vision only Jesus. Here is the paraphrased analogy. I apologize for not being as elegant. Imagine you made a trip to Washington DC. In your visit you got meet some famous politicians. You brag and tell your friends a couple of times over a per

My wife and I are leaving in a few minutes to meet our daughter and son-in-law at October Fest in Chattanooga. This post is not so elegantly stated as yours. We will have some German food and drink, walk around the vendor booths and listen to some music. I can no longer imagine having the desire to endure the drudgery of sitting in the absolutely dreadful church meetings for 3+ hours. It is a

I will keep working on the list. Our primary problem has been spammers. Specific domains and words are blocked to help us admin the site. If you run into a problem you cannot resolve, please email me. My email address is at the top sticky note. Please try to find the problematic word yourself first using the preview function. It may take a day or more for me to respond.

I will add just a bit to the Knoxville discussion. I live 70 miles south of Knoxville. My wife and I spent Sunday afternoon on a small lake on a mountain top 40 minutes from our home. The area is full of outdoor opportunities. Economically this area is growing rapidly. It was recently listed as the 5th fastest growing area of the US. European firms are moving here with massive investments.

This is a classic sign of a cult - "What will happen to me if I leave?" Ballard is an ass for emphasizing this cult characteristic. To instill fear is abominable. Life is so much better after Mormonism. Hopefully more folks will find us as a result of his talk.

I agree with imaworkinonit. In my experience, when people find out I am an ex-Mormon, they want to talk about it instantly and enthusiastically. It is often difficult to change the topic once it is started. They are fascinated by its weirdness. If I were an active Mormon with these same people, I am sure they would quickly walk away when the topic of the church comes up. There is no approach

Thanks! It is always nice to know we have been of help. We really appreciate it when we get this kind feedback. Hope your life continues to be successful and happy. Well, I am off to play in a 60's band tonight in Chattanooga. That is so much better than listening to conference.

If you wish to volunteer for this, be sure to take care of yourself. Perhaps limit yourself to 2 sessions or less. Maybe just a couple of talks from each session and not punish yourself for a full 2 hours each time. Personally I could not do it. We value your sanity.

I am so sorry. You have suffered a significant loss. Please do not be hard on yourself. We witnessed a young neighbor pass away from a brain tumor. Early detection made no difference. You did all you could by being a loving wife. It is obvious from your words. You were happy together. You are in our thoughts.

The lifesitenews is really not news. It is a combination of political and religious extremism in my opinion. We will let this stand with that caveat.

Sigh, the lies of TSCC regarding membership. From the 2012 Census in Brazil: 15.3 million Brazilians said they are of no religion 1.3 million Brazilians are Jehovah's Witness (Watchtower claims 800,000) 226,000 are Mormon (Mormon church claims over 1.1 million) 407,000 are Umbanda (An African religious offshoot) 107,000 say they practice Judaism and about 35,000 say they a

This was a bit dark for sarcasm (if dark is the appropriate word) and is troubling some people based on the emails we are receiving. A few people want to leave the board as a result. So I am closing this thread at our old limit of 30. Normal threads run to 60. This is not a deletion, just letting it runs its course down the page. I don't like to do this, but the heartfelt pain some are feelin

She started out with, 'Good luck when you die.' If she were truly seeking answers as to who we are, she would not of thrown that in. She received a variety of responses, some 'mean' and some 'kind'. In my opinion, she deserved both. Someday when she discovers Mormonism is not all unicorns and rainbows, she will likely remember where she could learn the truth. She may think, "Oh, that

Mormon church is primarily a real estate holding company masquerading as a religion. To state that a high rise office building is sacred ground leaves no doubt. What other so called religion would claim a commercial office building as sacred? Scientology perhaps? I feel for those married to TBMs or who have TBM family members who are financing these real estate ventures with their tithes.

Mike, we have been fortunate financially. We are not wealthy. We just have enough to retire. My health took a bit of a turn with having been hospitalized with sepsis last year and now arthritis wreaking havoc on my hands. It was time to stop working full time. I may give up the clarinet as it becomes rather difficult to play classical. Jazz or simpler pieces are still doable, but not for l
