I have had the RSV and Covid vaccines yet quite ill today. I have only been around a few people these past weeks so it is surprising that I caught something. What I read is to wash you hands regularly especially when out shopping or handling objects that others have touched.

Our costs are a bit high. We live on a dedicated server. Our ISP charges $180 per month for full back ups, support etc. I will eliminate my site email to save $20 as it is not used otherwise we are at $200

I will get details later. Unfortunately we need to do fund raising again as we reside on a dedicated server. I hope to lower our costs in negotiating with our ISP. If you wish to help you can donate by going to the bottom of the first page or send a check to: wingnet PO Box 2605 Cleveland TN 37320-2605 for exmormon.org No one is paid here and never have been paid in the nearly 25 year

https://onlysky.media/ccassidy/jehovahs-witnesses-changing-course-on-reporting-evangelism-hours/ This is a long article on the Watchtower. IMHO it is a good read. I used to tell new ex-Mormons to read up on the antics of the Watchtower as there are so many similarities to Mormonism and it can be studied somewhat dispassionately. Apparently the Evangelism hours reported by JWs have been fall

"Remember the Scopes Monkey Trial? What is it with these people? Do they know no other way of living beyond trying to stop the world and live in the past?" That is actually a good thing for me. My jazz group plays for a major Scopes anniversary dinner and dance. We are booked again already for July 2024. The event is only 30 miles from my home in Tennessee. The anti-LGBTQ trend

'A federal court ordered the brand Balance of Nature to stop producing and selling its dietary supplement products this week, after the Food and Drug Administration accused the two Utah-based companies behind it of repeatedly breaking the law in how they made and marketed their supplements. The FDA says the company marketing Balance of Nature, Evig LLC, and its CEO Lex Howard had flouted years

What an amazingly well written post Nightingale about such an arcane topic among non-Mormons. Only Mormons seem to care about this nonsense regarding a name. You should be a professional writer. This one was exemplary.

My situation was a bit different. When my grandfather passed away, my cousins got a house, cars, money etc. I was awarded nothing in his will because I had converted to Mormonism while in college. He refused to talk to me when I returned from my mission to Finland. It was a huge price to pay (joining this damn cult) with both relationships in the family and monetarily. We have all suffered

'Despite the record missionary numbers in 2013 and 2014, the membership growth rate plunged, shockingly, to the lowest levels since 1947, where it remains.' 'Moreover, the fastest LDS growth is in impoverished Third World countries, while most advanced nations see little or no growth. None of this is likely to change anytime soon.' https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/letters/2023/11/12/letter-to

I remember the top job, even the number one job of a GA, is to contact wealthy Mormons for off the books donations. These donations are for law suits and other embarrassing financial needs to keep issues from public view. This has some connection to tithing though not directly. To know who to contact for money is probably what Ballard obtained.

Kindness is a good thing. As others have said, tell them you have no interest in the church yet you are concerned for their well being. They will remember.

I played in a jazz group Saturday for a private party. It was $30 per head for food and drinks and there was a large crowd. The band ate free, but sigh.. We were given vegetarian hot dogs on a gluten free bun. One bite and I had to discard the dinner. Fortunately there was some chili and beer which I had at the end. I have had wonderful vegan dishes. This was certainly not one of them.

I know I am fortunate. I turn 72 in November. I founded this site. Exercise with free weights at least 3x/week. Have things you enjoy doing in life. Hobbies for example. Do well at your occupation or business, but don't go crazy with the hours. This was a busy week+ for me in retirement from engineering: Sun Afternoon: Played at a market jazz band - tenor sax Tues Evening: Dress r

I looked up one topic in particular - Fanny Alger. The documentation is excellent. Here are some examples. When you click on any of these items at bhroberts.org you get the source material. May 1887 Joseph learned about plural marriage in 1831; Alger is listed as "one of the first plural wives sealed to" Joseph Feb 15, 1838 Letter from Marsh with multiple testimonies rega

My mother, when she would make her biannual visits, always complained that we had too many books. We have a room with books and my musical instruments. It is a bit of a sanctuary to read and practice. To my knowledge, she never read a book in her life. Now with our 4 year old twin grandchildren, we have tons of books all over the house for them to read. They love to jump on our laps and have

I was a relatively new member of the corporation having dinner with a professor (Mormon) at my school, when he commented he lost $35K in an investment touted by Paul H. Dunn. This was in the mid 70's. That should of alerted me immediately of problems in this organization. I did not know the phrase 'affinity fraud' at the time. The professor was promised 35% annual returns which would help hi

From the short obituary: 'He loved to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes.' This was a crazy obituary that appeared over the weekend in my small city. I can only guess his family was not too fond of him. I became a bit depressed reading that short bio. A life wasted. I hope my life will have been meaningful to those that have known me. In the end we are nothing but stories. Hopefully our
