I agree that he probably felt lonely and wanted to be around someone. He spent his entire life around his first wife. And for her it was a great opportunity to get married finally. I don’t want to judge if they were in love or what their motivation was. I had a roommate in college who got married to a man with 8 children and he had two wives who died. This roommate is severely disabled - bril

Well, that’s tough. Even if someone came up to me and told me “I’m God. And I’ll prove it to you by turning this car into a house.” Who says that this is a proof of God? I’d probably think he’s a powerful magician

Number one reason why people leave —- Finding our it’s not true. They can call it “feeling judged” all day all. It always comes down to finding out it’s not true.

I started noticing that so many of my lds friends started posted on social media all these different quotes and articles about abortion. Is this the new thing they focus on this year? And of course, these posts contain their personal opinions. Very often these post are posted by a male, who says that he wouldn’t ever do it/ allow it. Even if the baby should be born with extreme health conditio

Hello friends, I missed you dearly. I still come here and look around. I hope everyone is doing well. My recovery from Mormonism is going pretty well. I travel a lot for work and keep myself busy. I’m not excited to spend the holidays with my lds family, but I want to be as loving towards them as possible. Today I come here to ask for a piece of advice/recommendation/hear your story and etc

Just because the temple doesn't make her uncomfortable, it doesn't mean that it won't make other people uncomfortable. I had a good bishop, who was really open about the temple and the ceremony. I personally wasn't freaked out, but I also wouldn't claim that it's not freaky in a way.

Memories from the past... A:"Who was your favorite speaker?" Me:"I had to work all weekend, I haven't watched any of it yet. Yours?" A:"Elder Uchtdorf. He's so great." Me:"Oh yeah? What did he talk about?" A:"Ummm....I don't remember exactly, but it was REALLY GOOD."

My TBM mom asked me: "So, will you start attending the church now? They did the two hour block for people like you..." I know my mom didn't mind the three hour church. It was her social life. All of her kids are out of the house and she doesn't work, so she has plenty of time. When I asked her if it was a revelation or not, she replied that I always have to criticize the church...so

I really don’t get Mormons anymore. And I officially left only a year ago. My coworkers in NYC are worried about getting married and making it financially. They make good $$$. Sure, life in NYC isn’t cheap, but they have their priorities straight. Mormons very often don’t think. They jump into it

This is a very complex issue. I don’t want to get into the first part of your post. I’ll answer your last question “was that really what she wanted?” Most likely yes. As a girl, who grew up in the lds church, I was told that my goal in life should be being a wife, mother and a homemaker. Many girls grow up with this dream. They want to have large families and a husband, who will t

I know many Mormons, who say that they want their kids to be raised in Utah because it's safe and what they family needs. In other words they like the culture here and that they don't have to be the minority anywhere else.

The “prophet” isn’t the one running the organization. He’s 93. How much does he really know about social media. They want members to be using social media to promote the cult. They think this is the way to improve their image. When I was active I heard the cult leaders say things about being on social media during church time on Sunday/ activities. They don’t want people to miss the br

I’ll admit that I’m overall way nicer after I have my cup of coffee haha. But I also enjoy drinking coffee while reading a good book, working and etc. I like trying new types of coffee. Am I addicted to coffee? In a sense probably yes. But let me tell you that I find drinking coffee much better that drinking soda. My mom goes to the stupid soda shops in Utah daily!! Every morning she gets

I think it's awful to even encourage parents to snoop on their children's phones or computers. I really hope most parents try to build trust with their children.

He’s in Brazil. Almost done with his mission. And apparently baptized close to 100 people. Who cares none of the people stay, so it’s nothing more than a weird day in a tiny pool.

What was the last thing he posted? I read that he was going to school in Colorado and his wife sorta accepted his position with the church. I hope for the best.

Family relative is on a mission. He found out about the fact that I removed my name. I received an email from him - typical missionary email. He shared how he baptized people and the message within TBoM and how it converts people. It made me think of this...Missionaries ask people to read and pray about tbom. But why? Shouldn't people pray about the actual CORE BELIEVES within mormonism? Such

Hey!!! This is very nice of you. I’m doing well. I’m getting my first promotion by the end of the summer. I still spend days/weeks in SLC because of different meetings, so it sometimes sucks to be back a lot. I’m buying a studio apartment in Brooklyn! I’m super stoked for that. I’m dating a guy, who’s a confident, kind, mature and supportive. We don’t talk about religion and I

My mom always complains that nobody in RS signs up to feed the missionaries. People got annoyed cause some missies were really demanding - they’d request certain meat, they called 30 mins before dinner that one of them was gluten free, they wanted to eat at 5, when people were still gone at work. If they increased their allowance, it would be easier on both parties

Brainwashing. Years ago when I lived in Europe, we had church for two hours. Relief society/ priesthood would switch with Sunday school every other week. Two hours was still painful, but much more doable. After the first hour you knew you only had an hour to go.
