I no longer identify as Mormon but have many friends that are. I live in an isolated gated community in north Georgia so visiting me requires my permission at the gate. I remain in the email tree for home teaching, ward announcements and the rare temple needs. Beyond that I hear consistently from one person only. The only recurrrnt adult association I have is with Football Officials in my area. W

Conformity in appearance...drove me crazy and eventually out. Not to mention Isaiah in the BOM...BOA...and a list of others too numerous for one finger typing on my I phone. Just the thoughts of Jewish submarines is enough.. Gatorman

“The Mormon Mold”...man can I relate to that. Just wearing a blue shirt sans a tie created problems for me. I finally resorted to when asked where my tie was I would say “ I don’t own one”. Man the looks after that. Certainly there has been growth in membership in Africa and South America. But when the eventual Mormon tendency to Americanize members difficulty will arise there too. I ju

I feel your pain- and anger. Lots to think about. Housing for MIL that would’ve downsizing, SS survivor benefits and a myriad of other services. Key in on health care. Throwing lots of things out because I don’t know all circumstances. The bishop will probably recommended a senior mission.... Gatorman

All of us felt this way.... varied intensities based on our age when we made the same decision as you. Don’t know where you are in life-employed, school, career or significant others. What helped me at age 70: 1. Community service- mine is the food bank and emergency shelter for abused children 2. Surrounded myself with people of like belief. This took some time and work For someone your a

Never lived there but have heard others tell of emoployment difficulties, loneliness and the repeated hostility- the best word I can use- by LDS teachers in the classroom towards non/LDS kids, dating issues mentioned above, making athletic and cheerleading squads- you name it. Being and adult is hard but being a child/teenager is worse....being ignored, left out and ostracized is painful Gator

I would suspect the no games on Sunday rule which interferes with television contracts for individual conferences plays a major role. To cry religious prejudice when Marquette, TCU, Seton Hall, Boston College, Baylor, Notre Dame, St.Louis, St Peters, SMU, DePaul....to name a few religious affiliated schools that have conferences they belong to...seems whining. Progress slow but noticeable. A full week of electrical stimulation, isometrics and range of motion resulted in two days ago standing with support with a walker and today negotiating small steps with assistance!!! Twice this week she has been in a robotic walker- Star Wars like exoskeleton- that “walks” her slowly by her using hand driven mechanism. Legs feel “there” where three days ago

There is a certain martyrdom syndrome in LDS missionary service. Having doors slammed gives the 19 yo some identification of sacrifice for the faith. This experience can prolong the serving the Lord mantra extending for a period of time after returning home. Then in largely LDS communities the RM can say to a 17 yo “ I did mine now go do yours...”. There is a generational effect that cannot b
