Lex DeAzevedo's daughter is a wild child tattoo artist. She did my "falling bison" ink on my right shoulder. It's a long story but represents my acceptance of science and fact over superstition and mythology. Who are these children coming down?

Everyone is on their individual timeframe. It is a solitary journey, but in the end the OP defines recovery quite well.

This month marks 20 years since I submitted my resignation letter and got my "Greg Dodge" letter in return. My own personal "Juneteenth". I'm proud to say I can no longer name the "first presidency" I'm no longer bitter, although I remain frequently disgusted. "The church" no longer holds enough space in my head to make me give it much thought. I am f

Who knew, we would someday be nostalgic for the heady days of recovery from Mormonism? Tears in my eyes but I laugh too.

Timothy McVeigh killed far more in Oklahoma City. I'm not sure if the distinction of being shot or blown up matters to the victims.

I noticed that, either recent or modern, which is a change from earlier this morning. The news must have gotten to them. Ironically KSL radio just did a live broadcast and referred to it as the "worst in American history". If anyone should know better it is them.

The national news outlets are starting to add the word "modern" to their headlines, I guess to exclude Mountain Meadow

Thank you so much to all of you for honoring Kurt with your kind words. A reminder to all of us that there is so much more beauty in the Universe when we live a life based on love instead of judgement. If I learned anything from him, it was that.

Greetings RfM! I know I’ve been long absent from the ranks, honestly because I didn’t have anything new to say. Recent events give me cause to ponder and once again to write. ANGELS AMONG US (those who have ears to hear will understand) As the news of his death spread, hundreds of friends in Hawaii mourned his loss in the most beautiful way. As his brothers and sisters flew to Hawaii fr

I can explain nothing to you. Some things must be discovered individually. A thirst for truth and a willingness to disregard personal bias or preconceived notions in the face of conflicting information is the only way to progress or truly learn, but that information is best discovered on one's own. For most people it is brought about through some intense personal experience. Something powerful en

I have a gentle fondness for the exmo crowd. No so much for the Pharisees or the fence sitters. :) For those my patience has worn thin.

No not at all JPT. I haven't really "moved on" entirely, just don't stop by as much any more. RfM forever in my heart and will forever have my gratitude.

Thanks Lorraine for letting me know. I'm still around a bit, reading more than writing. RfM is a place of healing and it serves it's purpose well, whether just venting or giving words and meaning to new feelings, RfM is here for that outlet and I will never forget it. Good Morning Sunday. People say, "you need God to be moral", and yet it is god's followers that scare me the most in

The negative publicity about this case has and will definitely continue to have a negative effect on nominal members and investigators. It will come up on google searches and is already part of the public domain. As far as the case itself, it will be quietly dismissed and fade from the limelight relatively quickly. It will be deemed a publicity stunt by most observers, which is too bad becau

Like grieving, there is a process one goes through when they change such a major part of themselves. Of course there are degrees. One might grieve the loss of a goldfish much less than the loss of a loved spouse or good friend. There is no set pattern but I've come to believe that the amount of time to move through this process has a strong correlation with not only the amount of time but also

You can't drag a believer from his belief with rational argument, the very nature of the belief is irrational. The successful approach is indirect at best. The road out of Mormonism is a solitary journey and the first steps usually start with an almost casual curiosity. There is no "October Surprise", you know everything you need to know. The only thing that will change now is you

I remember when I first found RfM. A friend, Steve Ganzell (Oberon) told me about it. My first year or so I hid the fact that I was here. I went by Voice of Reason and people started calling me VOR. I liked that. I only visited RfM at night when no one would see. I was still a mission president in 99, and since I would never dare access RfM at the office I had to sneak downstairs in the missi

I was required to interview each missionary in the mission at least once every 6 weeks, so that usually coincided with zone conferences. I never once asked a missionary about masturbation, and yet you'd be surprised how many of them confessed it. It got really old. They were just conditioned to feel guilty, bring it up and unburden themselves. You should have seen their faces when I said I d
