I had an email yesterday - Hi Brother Stone I hope this email finds you and your family well. I recently called by your address, as the Bishop of the Catford Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, and discovered that you have moved. To help update the Church records could you forward me your new address. Have a fantastic Easter weekend. Bishop And my reply -

We are complicated creatures. Perhaps inflexability is one manifestation of a primitive survival instinct - don't trust anything what-so-ever outside what you know.

It would look a little strange if the temple was wrecked by an "act of god". So this makes sense for future proofing the corporation. A bit like lightning rods on steeples kind of thing. But Mormon heavenly father forbid if this resulted in another Notre Dame disaster.

What?! “Last August, a Federal lawsuit was filed by a Mormon attorney on behalf of at least six active Jehovah’s Witnesses — all claiming that by exposing their names (in court documents) they would be irreparably harmed. By December, at least three more names were slated to be added to this lawsuit. Out of the nine active JWs who were party to this Federal lawsuit, three were alleged

I just had the Easter email message from cult headquarters in Utah. Opening this email my attention was immediately caught by a large and constantly changing one word message flashing “DESPAIR, SICKNESS, ANXIETY, HATRED, DEATH, FEAR, PAIN”. Underneath the message “will die hashtag because of him”. - Just what a strangely formatted message. But to be clear, Mormon Jesus is certainly n

The 1978 General Handbooks mention the no-blacks policy in guarded terms. For example Page 22 General Missionary Handbook - "If the candidate (for baptism) is of restricted lineage, you should explain the limitations concerning who may receive the priesthood." But it's all euphemisms and you know what we mean so we're not going to spell it out kind of stuff. The ghastly first preside

I like books and often have three on the go at once. One of my many bookmarks is from 2008 and is Mormon. One side says “I love to see the temple” and has an accompanying photo. On the other is a quote from Tommy Monson – “As we love the temple, touch the temple and attend the temple, our lives will reflect our faith.” Love and touch - what a really strange thing to say! All

The management of the Smith Cult in Britain has realised it's been missing a trick all these years. Members (priesthood)aren't just attending rememberance events but are laying wreaths which are there to advertise the cult and make it seem like it's both British and normal. They are hitting as many events as they can which leaves no men to conduct the sunday meetings.

Of recent I have been considering humanity’s religious landscape in all its irreconcilable contradictions and nonsense and attempting to understand why? Why do ordinary people believe? But perhaps this is the wrong question to ask of believers because why leads only to a feedback loop and statements about what they believe. Indeed, a better question is how do they believe? I see the latest email from cult HQ has a piece about a new lameness called Youth Battalion. I wonder if this will dovetail into the replacement for scouts or whether the two will essentially be the same. Now, the email doesn’t say this is the definite replacement name for Scouts, but Youth Battalion - lol. I guess all the good names have long standing existing owners. I do hope they kee

Thought I’d share a couple of old things from an old London South Mission newsletter. Firstly obeying the letter of the micro managed rules for missionaries is not nearly enough. Secondly that not getting baptisms is directly the fault of the missionaries themselves for not having enough desire, for not being obedient and for not having faith. This is the MP’s considered message to young peop

From what I understand JWs are an exclusive, inward looking and quite high control cult and that the organisation entertains no thoughts of compromise. The scc on the other hand seems to have a strategy to try and make itself softer and to seem comparatively normal. For example messages from HQ showing solidarity with chrisians at Easter, the constant watering down doctrines. Why, the curre

Well here in the UK Mormonism seems to have turned a corner. As someone else pointed out in this forum, by law out it has to produce public yearly accounts. http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Showcharity/RegisterOfCharities/FinancialHistory.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=242451&SubsidiaryNumber=0 Ignoring money transfered in from SLC it's started making losses. But things are only goi

I have to correct something I said and get my facts straight. Russ's flight diverting prayer was an anacdote about what may have happened 30 years ago in 1987 when on a visit to the UK - and didn't happen this week at all.

Nothing about missionary work, but he did prattle on about becoming "spiritual physicians" and the worn out idea"whatever is wrong the gospel has the answer". This was all connected to ministering to existing members.

We humans have a great skill of barricading ourselves inside nonsense beliefs. That said, we as disbelievers in momonism also have to guard ourselves so that regardless of source we can give proper consideration to new information. Mmm, now those barges - Without evidence and so extrordinary a claim there's actually no reason to beleive in them or the convoluted explanation about part reality p

Oh yes, Wendy did get to warm the crowd up. But although this was only yesterday the details of her inexorable feat are now hazy in my mind - perhaps I've been caused to forget it by divine means?

There were no tickets on the door as all were pre-allocated. I know church employees in the UK were offered tickets beyond that the selection process is an unknown, apparently about 1,000 tickets were available. In the video feed there were no panning shots which I saw of whether the Hyde Park chapel was full or not (though my eyes did keep involuntarily closing during this snore-fest). How one

When those stuttering words were croaked “IIIII don’t know that we - teach that”. It was in the grand tradition of plausible deniability used by many a no-good to dodge responsibility. But you know, just because there’s a difficulty in getting hard evidence that contradicts such shirking it doesn’t mean it’s beyond proving. All those TBMs who remember what exaltation used to mea

In the UK, at short notice all members are to go to their assigned chapels at 7pm on the 12 April. Gasp! The so called prophet will be beaming-in almost live for a special message. "A marvelous work and a wonder in the UK just stay faithfull etc etc". He will be broadcasting from the special sepulchre underground of the London temple (which is not particularly near London).

Our intelligence gives us the power to build intricate and self supporting edifices of nonsense that it can be hard to walk outside into reality. Your father mentioned stupor of thought, a real phenomenon and many a true beleiver’s reaction to unanswerable anti mormon facts. TSCC cleverly uses that uncomfortable human reaction to pretend that the holy ghost is communicating that doubt

People are complicated and double think is easy, everyone does it. We compromise our supposed beliefs, goals or whatever all the time. Few people are ever just one thing. The science of us is that it's all dependent on which side of the bed we got out of. Such internal conflicting personal thoughts and desires are the seed bed of religion, madness and also happiness.

Don't forget there is the book of Ether. I sometimes think the author of the BoM put in some deliberate insults to any readers of it who might be taking it seriously. King Moron for example plus his kingdom of Moron - hidden messages?

The idea that a particular day or even week is somehow more holy than any another sounds like nonsense. Although you'd think with all those profits seers and revelators in tssc they'd have sorted out when easter time is or at least have made a clear ruling on it. I suspect church leadership is afraid that such a move would be isolating and a very public reminder that it is a cult.

Ambiguous sentences, nonsense and cultish clap-trap. The latest email from tscc HQ is a minor classic. "When we feel the Savior's guiding voice, our questions can turn to answers, fear can turn to faith, struggles can turn to strengths, and despair can turn to hope. This Easter weekend is an opportunity to come closer to Him as we listen to messages from His inspired servants. Join us

We had to watch a supposedly motivating film by Vince Lombardi once at a mission conference - it waw dire like something from the 1950s. It did't motivate and seemed to be just a self glorifying bit of out of date twaddle. But the ELSM sale techniques were hard and soulless and are suited to only a few missionaries.
