Sounds like some Utah-County temple president applied a typical Utah-County understanding of "conservative grooming." Then Salt Lake City (which has to worry about PR that happens outside of Utah County) finds out and says, "holy shucks, we gotta back- track on this before it hits the papers!" But it hit the papers anyway.

The variety of Y-chromosomes in humans is proof that Noah's wife fooled around on him before the flood.

A common misconception is that an electric shock was administered to the genitals. A Plethysmograph (device to measure volume change) was attached to the penis and if "improper" arousal was detected an electric shock was administered to another (neutral) part of the body. The genitals were not shocked.

The dead giveaway is the fact that so many details of the prophecies are so specific and correct.

The sick don't have enough faith to be healed. If they had more faith they would realize that it's wrong to tempt God's chosen to perform miracles. Mormonism's Catch 22.

She is an active shill for the worst of LDS's brand. Notice that nobody ever complained about Monson's wife, or Hinckley's wife, or Hunter's wife, or Benson's wife (etc.). They didn't come out publicly swinging like Wendy has. Same for Sherri Dew (who once publicly likened those who accept same-sex marriage to those who did nothing to stop the rise of Hitler). When they're in

I have a theory that the "bitterness" doesn't come from finding out the cult is a cult. It comes from how you are treated by friends and family AFTER you find out that the cult is a cult.

I don't remember when I learned about it. My grandmother was the second wife of a pre-manifesto plural "marriage." Polygamy was just a thing that was from God but the evil government was not allowing. The conventional wisdom was that it would come back at a later date.

I have it on good authority that the original draft of Oak's talk contained the following lines which were excised from the talk at the last minute: "Right is now right. It's been right since around 1978 when right stopped being racist. But now it's right--the REAL right, not that bogus Adam-God right from the 1800s, or the 'I'm a Mormon' right of a few years ago. Now is the

I once attended the annual meeting of a Presbyterian congregation. One item on their handout was the number of people dropped from membership in the congregation for not having attended for a year. What would the numbers for the Morg be if they didn't count anyone who'd been inactive for a year or more? Their 16 million number is totally bogus.

Don't be silly. Spaniards are a pure white race. There were never any Africans in Spain. Never, ever! We can Moor our ship of faith securely in the harbor of whiteness and delightsomeness. In a more serious tone, I recall realizing that my southern- Italian ancestry meant that SOMEWHERE without question was a black African. The Roman empire occupied much of northern Africa and th

During the Monson era the Church clarified that caffeine is not against the WOW. They even sell coke now at BYU. So the no- cola-drinks announcement was not the Church's own rules. Was there a no drinks allowed rule (to avoid spills etc. in the building) or did it just apply to cola drinks? If just so-called "cola drinks," does that mean people will be going around checki

A friend, nevermo, was saying the economy was going to collapse. He was convinced about 11 years ago that the recession was the end of civilization as we know it. He asked me if I had enough food to last two months. I said, "yes." He was truly shocked. we always have a lot of food in the pantry. It's not that we're saving for Armageddon, just that it's good to be able
