TBMs LOVE MLK. Of course, back when he was alive it was standard TBM conventional wisdom to despise MLK. First off, he was a knee- grow who was a descendant of Cain and bore the CURSE from God. And, second of all, he was a liberal. Our beloved late prophet, even Ezra Taft Benson had this to say about MLK a year after his assassination: May 1, 1969 - Apostle Ezra Taft Benson wr

The press conference and announcement are for PR reasons. Therefore they do not stress things that show the differences between Mormons and humans. They save those for when they are among Mormons.

Yes, according to a lot of flat-earther's you'd think the whole idea of a globe-shaped earth was invented by NASA as part of their conspiracy. As if ancient Greeks didn't know the earth was round. The people who KNEW from first-hand experience that the earth was sphere-shaped were the sailors from the 1500s, 1600s, and 1700s. They were the ones who made a world-wide maritime industry

Love the pic of a pyramid from Tikal. Evidently a picture of a structure built centuries after Book-of-Mormon times by a people with no connection culturally, linguistically or genetically with Hebrews is supposed to be "evidence for the Book of Mormon."

BYU didn't apply electroshock to anyone's genitals. The protocol for BYU's "aversion therapy" program was for a plethysmograph (device for measuring volume change of a body part) to be attached to the penis of the subject and then electroshock was applied to a DIFFERENT part of the body in response to arousal. The fact that a device was attached to the genitals and that ele

Might I suggest the following: Since 1/2 the marital assets are your wife's, do not object to her paying tithing on her half. Respecting her beliefs (not that you think they're true or even defensible) is a big part of loving your wife. If you show respect to her over her beliefs, then you will be on much better footing to ask for respect for yours. Also, don't fight with the mot

Hate crime laws can't subvert the first amendment. However they work by attaching extra punishment to crimes when "hate" is involved. "Hate," of course, is in the view of the prosecutor. For example if you walk across the street between intersections that could be jaywalking--illegal--and you could get a ticket for it. However, if you walk across the street betwe

Ask them, "What does this mean? . . . "Health in the navel; marrow in the bone, strength in the loins and in the sinew; power in the priesthood be upon me, and upon my posterity, through all generations of time and throughout all eternity."?

Mormon syllogism: Premise one: The Church is the way the gospel is given to us. Premise two: The gospel is God's way of making us all deliriously happy and is the best thing in the universe. Premise three: Apostates are not happy with the gospel. --------------------------------------------- Conclusion: There's something wrong with apostates.

If he doesn't believe in a god (even if he hasn't ruled out the possibility of a higher being) then he's an atheist by definition.

The first "apostolic interregnum" was after Joseph Smith died and nobody knew what to do. The quorum of apostles took over but they didn't dare declare a president/prophet. That didn't happen until three and a half YEARS after Joseph's death, when they'd already moved out to Utah. After Brigham's death, John Taylor wasn't ordained president/prophet for another three years a

"I've read all that before and it doesn't hurt my testimony one bit." That's a way to stop the discussion--stop you from saying anything else or stop the TBM from actually having to deal with the information you're presenting. It's the Mormon version of putting your hands over your ears and going, "La la la la la!" And you're right; they don't have to have read an

I remember my TBM Dad reading Irving Wallace's "The Twenty- Seventh Wife" about Ann Eliza Webb Young, one of Brigham's plural wives who ended up divorcing him, suing for support (she lost as the court agreed with Brigham that it wasn't a marriage but just an "ecclesiastical arrangement"). He told me that it was an interesting book but basically an anti-Mormon bashing

Sheri Dew is not ugly. She's intelligent; she's successful; she's a catch. On top of that she's a staunch member and promoter of a Church that stresses the necessity of marriage. The only reason I can think for her to be unmarried all these years is that her personality is toxic.

So the Autopen is busy signing mission calls. Then the call comes in to LDS central that Monson has died. Question? Do they figure out the time of death and re-do all the mission calls that were signed by the Autopen with Monson's name after he died, and them have Nelson's Autopen sign them? Or do they just leave things as they were?
