Most conservatives are less concerned with having parks, then who pays for it. To them a public park paid for with federal money is a violation of government powers. However, it would be an appropriate action for a county or municipal government to pay for. The idea is that people in Ohio should not be taxed to build or provide something that only provides services to someone in Iowa, and so o

I honestly have no idea. I don't pay attention to made up boundary lines and imaginary territories used by Mormons.

Don't forget the changing first vision story. That is a testimony killer for most people. Keep emphasizing that details in a story change, only because the person telling them is lying, but truth telling is always constant.

I'm sure they got rides from the temple. If they did a session, can you imagine the smell of all those unwashed Aaronic priesthood holders waiting to get dunked? Worse, half of them would assume they were clean, since they got dunked several times, and did not need a shower that night or the next Morning.

Everyone thinks they want a big penis, but they don't understand how hard it makes it to have sex. You have to be really careful so you don't injure your poor partner. Adds a lot of stress to the thing.

So my sister is gushing about how her teenage sons went on a 13.5 mile hike to the Atlanta temple today. My guess is they are trying to do some pioneer themed brainwashing. Was it just a hike, or are there any details we can make fun of the Mormons for? Please tell me they dressed up like stripling warriors or pulled wheelbarrows dressed up to look like handcarts, or something.

Most of the Big 15 would probably not be bad guys if they didn't get sucked into their jobs. Truth is, in our modern age, there is no way they can stay there, without figuring out the truth. Maybe back in the 80s and 90s you could be an apostle and still believe, but not now.

The biggest obstacle a black has in getting called to Bishop in the south, is not the color of his skin, but the reduced likelihood of him having ever lived in Utah.

Yes and no. In time of famine, you are still going to eat meat, but you are going to want to eat it early on. You know, slaughter the cows, so you can stop feeding them. There's a book called, "The Year 1000, What Life Was Like At The Turn of the First Millennium" by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger that goes into great length about surviving periods of scarcity. By the way, the wo

It's narcissism to think that there is an extreme ruler of the universe, and that he cares on a personal level about all the tiny little choices we make. Especially when so many innocent children suffer and die, and this supreme being does not seem to care. If there is a God, then we are ants. Do you worry about who the ants in your back yard are worshiping, or who they are having sex with?

I always hated it when some gas bag would read some message from the GAs where they would say recommend, and he would say, "I don't know about you, but when the brethren recommend something, I follow it." Though I forget the exact language. I was always like, "No, it is up to us. If it was to be a universal rule, then why not say it is one." Now I know this is one of the g

I was taught that too. It reminded me when I was working in college, and I actually had a friend who was a grad student from Israel who studying to get his masters in ancient languages, and was obsessed with the old Hebrew. I brought up a bunch of the language things I was taught about Hebrew growing up, and he couldn't stop laughing. A lot of language assumptions apologist make are just crazy

I think, they think, if they could only somehow get the members making more money, they would pay more tithes. It's funny, because I can think of one sure fire way to make all the tithe paying members 10 percent richer, almost instantly.

Most people don't buy lottery tickets until the price of the lottery gets really high. This about this, are you any more likely to win on a 300 million dollar drawing then a twenty? Yet ticket sales for Saturday nights drawing are going through the roof. Twenty million would change the vast majority of peoples lives. Yet 550 million is such an unimaginable sum of money, that most people c

Yes if I was a God, I would have tornadoes. Take 1 oz each of whiskey, vodka, rum, and tequila then stir together with ice. Strain into a glass. Add sugar, stir again. Add ice and cola to taste, then stir a few more times. Serve with a straw. Hurricanes would have to be an occasional mixer of life as well, though I have no idea how those are mixed.

But, one should add, you must never use it on a shrimp, for it feels them with all kinds of depravity and lust. Next thing you know, your shrimp will start practicing mutual masturbation, then total homosexuality. At least this is what Shellfish W. Clamshell wrote about the thing.

I remember being told, when I was a deacon, that every LDS male eventually had a face to face encounter with an evil spirit. He then told us the Mormon belief about asking demons to shake your hand, because we were going to need that stuff. The instructor absolutely believed that, and I took it to heart. Scared the crap out of me. I lived in constant fear of it the rest of my boyhood, and it

Maybe it's because Paul is the only guy mentioned in the New Testament who may have actually existed. The theory is that he picked up the early Jesus myths, and helped spread them around the Roman Empire. Later he was included in them when they were rewritten from a story of a cosmic Jesus who lived and died in space, to a flesh and blood Jesus who lived on Earth.

I was going to say a similar thing. Most smart people, who have dumb beliefs, usually hold them in areas where they are ignorant. Sadly, this problem is made worse because, religion in general, and Mormonism in particular are really good at feeling your head with trivial, useless, or false information, so that even the most intellectual can often times feel like their curiosity is fulfilled.
