I'm 30 and I still lie to my parents about going to church. My husband does the same thing. Both of us are the last of the siblings to remain in the church and so we feel the weight of our parents' dreams. Its a lame excuse for lying, but there you go. One day five years ago I wrote a tithing check for over a thousand dollars, looked at it, and realized I got absolutely nothing for the money and asked my husband if he wanted to keep paying. We had a long talk and decided to stop going to church for a while and see how we felt. Truly, it was mostly because we both thought church was boring and got nothing out of it. Neither one of us were surprised when we learned the truth about so many of the lies the church tells... but we didn't have any testimony to begin with so it was not eye opening really... just strengthened our decision to leave. I want to come clean about it to everyone, but I don't feel that the time is right yet. Suzanne was my temple name (tee hee)
