I have been trying to work on a TBM family member who says I am using anti mormon stuff to offend them. Ironic, my sources all come from the standard works.

What it boils down to is what is most important in being Christian and Mormon? I narrowed it down to Truth.

By using these 3 sources (there are many others) it sets the stage for what it means to be Christian.

"Christ is light, life, and truth of world", Ether 4:12 Book of Mormon

"whatsoever is truth is light" D&C 84:45.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father, but by me". John 14:6

In sum, what do you stand for? Surpressing, sanitizing, or hiding truth is anti mormon / christian. If all truth is light and Christ is Light and Truth, then won't seeking truth lead to that light...The Savior?

I am still athiest at this point. But, I figure this is a good approach to a TBM.

I think that is an excellent approach and John 14:6 is one of my favorite scriptures. And I so like "whatsoever is truth is light" because if you prove something is true it can not be anti-Mormon - it is just truth and you decide from there what to do with that truth.

Thanks honestone. Your message gave me more insight.

I emailed some other good ones and included my thoughts:

"Whatsoever is truth is light", D&C 84:45

"Mine Only Begotten is full of grace and truth", Moses 1:6

"I have commanded you to bring up your children in light and truth", D&C 93:40

"The righteous love the truth", 2 Nephi 9:40 &

"The guilty take the truth to be hard", 1 Nephi 16:2

and I said....Really, what is there to fear in truth? Its more miserable to live a lie. The truth ain't going away, its always there, we just have to recognize and accept it.

Unfortunately Mormon math works this way: God = Feelings = Truth = Facts.

Here is my logic:

God cannot lie.

God does not need men to lie for him.

If someone lies they do not represent god.

The LDS church has lied and continues to lie.

The LDS church, therefore, does not represent god.
