So I googled Mormon after reading the London thread and the 1st news article was this:

Bryan Fischer: Boy Scouts' Gay Youth Ruling Supported By Mormons In Hopes Of Restoring Polygamy

"The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer suggested the Boy Scouts of America be re-named the "Boy Sodomizers of America" after the organization opted to drop its controversial ban on gay youth participants last week.

But Fischer, whose anti-gay rants have become a near-weekly staple of his "Focal Point" radio show, isn't stopping there. He's now singled out the Mormon church's support for the BSA's amended view on gay Scouts as evidence that church officials are hoping legalization of polygamy will follow, Right Wing Watch is reporting.

"As the homosexual agenda advances, the next domino to fall is gonna be the against polygamy," he said. "The [Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believes] that the homosexual agenda may be the secret to restoring polygamy to America, and this would vindicate Mormon doctrine from the very beginning."

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I am belly laughing right now this is so funny.

The LDS Church has once again painted itself into a corner where there are no good options. They pushed for Prop 8 and all the older and religious people who felt the same praised them for doing their dirty work— only to catch an unexpected backlash from younger and more liberal types. Now they chosen to sit out the SSM fight in a number of states and not oppose the BSA change to help their PR situation....and they now get cap from evangelicals etc that say they're going soft and, apparently, are looking to have polygamy reinstated.

Tough spot to be in— especially for a belief system that deals in absolutes. Changes are much more noticeable and critics are far less forgiving when you essentially claim from the beginning that you get it all right.
