I've been studying polygamy, and I want to look at the original teachings. Where can I find original Mormon sources explaining the doctrine of polygamy? Are there good JOD talks? Are there old tracts or pamphlets? Sermons? Books?

Please help me out! And, thanks again in advance!

D&C 132 is the place to start.

Thanks, I've definitely read that one. I was hoping for some more detailed explanations by later prophets and apostles, especially polygamous ones.

In Sacred Loneliness by Todd Compton is great. Highlights of the book are here: http://www.wivesofjosephsmith.org/

Journal of Discourses...a bunch of sermons by early church authorities. Brigham Young had plenty to say about plural wives. You can find them on Kindle, or BYU library website or, http://jod.mrm.org.

I don't think you're going to find it.

Polygamy was a huge secret in Nauvoo. By reading diaries and the Nauvoo temple record books you can see that it existed.

I don't think any of us will find a Tell-All book writeen by a credible source.

If you do find it, I'm interested in reading it.

Edit: Read William Claytons Diary. He was sent to England to sell polygamy to the church members there. There is also a lot about JS.

I'm sure you're right about that. I just want to know which of Brigham Young's and others' JOD talks, etc. give the doctrinal basis of it.

Here's a few:

To name a few.

If you go to http://jod.mrm.org, and search, "plural," or "plurality," or "polygamy," you'll find all kinds.

Which talks about polygamy in Utah and the struggle the Church had giving up the practice. As part of it he talks about the rational and beliefs about the practice at it's height. Certainly the practice and ideas around polygamy evolved from Joseph Smiths exploits in the 1830-40s to what was happening in the 1880-90s.

The book is meticulously documented with original source material - diaries, council notes, etc.
