"BYU - America's Most Popular University"

During the first half of the USU-BYU game, each school aired its promotional ad. During BYU's self promo it showed various quotations about itself. The one that made me sit up in my seat was the quotation with the SWKT as a backdrop stating: "BYU-America's Most Popular Univesity"

Even as a BYU alum I about choked on the 24 oz beer I was drinking.

I'm not sure what the claim means, but it probably has to do with the fact that there are only so many slots available to incoming students each year, and a superabundance of Morgbots (of which I am ashamed to admit I was one!) grappling for admittance.

Maybe they left off the last part of the sentence. YBU -

America's most popular university for:
...Mormons
...abstinence
...sobriety
...enthusiasm for Disney displayed by adults
...cult members
...students making life-altering decisions based on feelings & magical thinking, despite attending a university that is supposed to teach critical thinking, and reasoning skills...

I think they're referring to that statistic they're always touting, the one about being tied with Harvard at first place for the most students ultimately choosing to go there after being accepted. Now, whether that statistic is accurate or not, I could not tell you, but I saw it quite a bit the one year I spent there, ha.

hmmmm...

At San Diego State this Fall semester there were 9500 spots and 72,000 applicants. I would be willing to bet there were more popular schools in California than SDSU.

I would say that there is no way that the claim could be backed up..
