November 26, 2010, What Do You Think About the Changes in CHI?

Jenny Smith makes this observation and then offers links to various articles. Sad- you can feel the crushing, the condensing, the lack of interest in providing any resources at all. And it is clearly getting worse:

"Like most YW leaders, you're looking for Christmas Lesson Ideas for Young Women during the month of December.

The 2010 Resource Guide gives this (not very helpful) advice: "Consider teaching lessons on the Savior during the Easter and Christmas seasons."

The 2008 guides read: "The manual does not include a specific Christmas lesson. If you want to teach a special Christmas lesson, consider using scriptures, conference addresses, Church magazine articles, pictures, and hymns that focus on the Savior."

Because what do people use to prepare these days??? Yes, the Google God. If the church doesn't spell things out for people, they will turn to the internet for help. I'm living proof of what happens when people start googling Mormon-related topics. If the church had given me enough info to prepare a decent Sharing Time for Mother's Day, I wouldn't have gone on-line for more help and found out about the First Vision by accidentally clicking on another exmo site. I say, "Go for it, Morg...leave your members without enough resources. Make them search for more. Do it. Please, oh please."

The whole YM's program is a bullet to the head of any thinking young woman.

"And this is our PINK personal progress book! Yipee!"

The current YW's Presidency are like Stepford Wives...scary.

seems all excited about doing her personal progress. Of course, she's only 12 and doesn't have anything to compare it to. And, she may also be talking it up in hopes of getting my daughter to go back to church. Daughter isn't at all interested.

ok, read some Twilight...that is totally consistent with the MORG plan for women. I was recently in UT County and the Morg moms haven't a clue. They are obsessed with 'PORN' and controlling husbands all the while their young teens are reading Twilight and 'longing' for Edward (which isn't 'porn'). Not sure what to think...

Another "victim" of the Google God here too :) I wanted to see what if any was the official opinion on the amount of tithing to be paid...one of the opinions happened to be in a post on exmormon.org and I kept on reading for two days and experienced a radical paradigm shift in the following weeks :)
