So I suppose "Hippie" is dead, and the summer of love is officially over.
'Bout time...
I joke, because the residents of the Haight Ashbury made this clear in 1968, when Scott was making his bucks with his tripe song. Had a mock funeral and all.
I came of age in that era, and though hippie culture ultimately failed due mainly to it's excesses, I learned some valuable lessons from it. Always question authority.. Don't conform for the sake of conformity.. Don't judge by appearances, try to love everyone. And those values weren't tied to religion so much as they were considered to be natural and innate qualities that were being suppressed by society.
My worldview was affected deeply by those ideas. I'm not sure about the flowers, but I still wear my hair as long as it will grow as a symbol of non-conformity and independence.

That's the way I felt before Zimmie and the Beatles. So I thought things were finally starting to go the right direction in society.

Me too, but it's not a symbol for me. I do it cuz I think I look cool while meditating. ;)
The downside is how much pulls out when I accidentally sit on it. Lawlz! I clip it, but I think it may be time to turban up...
