I was called the other night from a TBM friend. He was telling me that the tickets for the open house were almost gone. Asked if I got mine and if not was I interested in going. I said nope to both questions. Next question was if I wanted to feed the mishies. Nope was the answer again. He said that they had 300k tickets available and that 270k of them were gone. WTF! I find it hard to believe that 270k people are that freaking interested in it to come see this eye sore! He also said tickets were ordered from all 50 states and eleven countries!

So I have an idea to print out a bunch of flyers to put on the windows of all these people that are coming here! I might have to leave town for a month!

Bullshit. There's no way they will have more than a quarter million people visit a temple open house in a relatively small and isolated city in a state with 15 or so temples in it.

I just bought a sno cone shack that will be placed within the shadow of the temple in BC. Based on recent previous temple open houses they have all passed the 250,000 mark. It will happen easily. I am literally betting money on it.

How exciting to see something similar to a hotel in Vegas.

I actually wouldn't mind going now that I know about the temple ceremony. I left the church before I was old enough to really go through the temple and though I did go to one open house, it was before I really knew what the hell the deal was.

I live in BC and my family went out of their way to get tix to this. I was invited as well but politely declined :) Have you noticed the construction on main st where it intersects to the road leading to I-15? I was driving on it today and wondered if it was the church that paid for the new traffic signs, "Welcome to BC sign" and other such improvements....anyone have any dirt on that? I'm thinking it's all being done to impress people that are coming to visit the new temple (of destruction)...that's what my daughter and I call it :)

I am living in BC myself right now. I also own a home in Manti. The church will spend money to beautify. If a house near the temple is in poor repair, they will repair it or buy it. There was a rumor that they bought South Fork Hardware to get rid of that (rumor, so far).

In Manti the church will throw money at a civic project if it will beautify the temple.

On a different note. UDOT is also aware of Temple traffic and will use heavy traffic with hot temperatures to unleash it's infamous "chip and seal" road paving projects which require lots of weight and heat to work. They do it every year in Manti for the "effing" pageant.

I have seen it. Wondered the same thing about the sign! On change on main that really pisses me off was cutting down the trees in front of that house of handshakes!

Yeah... my in laws live in Brigham City and it is literally all they can talk about. The 300 K tickets, that they can only volunteer for 2 days because there are so many people volunteering, that they don't need temple workers because so many people want to work there...

Whatever. What bugs me about this temple is that it is an ugly prefab construction put together right across the street from the BC tabernacle that is historic and cool looking.

My grandfather in law and my father in law almost came to blows last summer arguing over whether or not the temple is larger and taller than the tabernacle. It is a BFD in their (my? ew....) family!

exactly. The BC tabernacle (used) to be interesting...now it's just a sidekick to the enormous McTemple towering it from across the street. They have completely ruined downtown BC as I remember it from my childhood. Main Street used to be quaint...now it just ain't quaint right. ugh
