Dunno, but that's the Profit's daughter, Ann Monson Dibb, second counse-ler in the YW Pres-den-cy.

Not a particularly attractive woman, is she? Just my opinion, of course.

I was thinking the same thing, like she was talking down to a bunch of little kids. Feels kind of patronizing.

I'd sound that way too if I felt I had the one true knowledge of the world and I was doing all humankind a favor by sharing it with the rest of you.

TSCC Often reminds me of N. Korea

Instead of a military army, they have an 'army' of missionaries.

Also note that eye contact is never made. The sing-songey speech is delivered in a sweeping manner to a faceless crowd. Romney does this too. It shows a general disdain for the audience.

It's hard for me to watch this garbage.

Im too fascinated by watching her mouth and that e-NUN-ci-A-tion. Too much emphasis on CONSCIENCE makes me wonder if she has one.

what's funny is that she thinks she sounds educated and inspiring. I can almost see her patting herself on the back for a job well (executed) I mean, done.

98 views on youtube......I be 55 of them are from RFM.

No one cares.

The cadence of mormon speak is universal in their world. It denotes agreement, piety and "spirituality".

I hate that shit.

I think it is because she is reading from a teleprompter after only 25 minutes to memorize the approved version of her talk...providing that she actually wrote it herself. It also appears as if she is not speaking from the heart or from personal experience, just like the all-to-common practice of creating a talk by throwing together a bunch of snippets from conference talks and Ensign articles. Lastly, I think that as with many other quirks in mormondom, if one leader uses a certain phrase or mannerism the members will follow suit, until everyone seems to talk just like dear leader.

That creepy sing-song voice scares my children more than if I yelled at them. They had one too many teachers in Primary that were sweet and sing-songy on the outside but frustrated and angry on the inside and I think kids can sense inner tension. Or, as my son once put it "that person has a lot of rage inside." I thought he was incredibly insightful for someone that young.

Not as bad as some, but bad enough. Talking to a group of adults as is they were talking to a three year old.

There's a cashier at a local grocery store, that when I go there are usually 2-3 checkers. I refuse to go through her line, even she has no one, and it means waiting in another line.

Take the voice in the video. Slow it down to about 1/5 the speed, and imagine them saying in that voice as if talking to a three year old, and like you had never used a credit card machine in your life.

"Sliiiiide your carrrrrrd."
"Put in your pinnnn nummmmmber"
"Press the greeeeeeen butttttton"
"Do you wannnnt casssssh bacccck?"
"Press nooooooo."
"Push the greeeeeen butttton againnn."

1) She either has oversized teeth...or bad dentures.

2) The Holy Ghost hangs out with momrons like their buddy or invisible friend?? Hence "the Holy Ghost as a companion"..

They think it's "spiritual" to talk with the General Authority lilt. Even other GAs fall asleep to that shizz.

I refused to use that church voice when I gave a talk. I stuck out like a sore thumb, just sounding like myself, but I absolutely wouldn't do it. I hated that voice.

Yes, it is really annoying, isn't it!

I used to think this was just how Utah women spoke. So it's definitely just a Mormon thing?

My personal opinion when ever anyone speaks like that, mostly found in religious settings, it is a hypnotizing type of speech that lulls you to sleep in essence and helps to shut down your critical thinking faculties while in that lulled state.

just my two cents.

And, the talk on "honesty"? Supreme irony of all time...

Mormons talk like that because there is a contest to see who can be the most pious, which is confused in their church with things like real spirituality and sincerity.

I would say that Ann Monson Dibb must have at least as many gold medals in piety by now as Michael Phelps does in swimming.

That link was like a master class and if I had to give a talk this sunday I would be studying her style into the midnight hours.

ALL Mormons are trained to talk that way! It's a form of mind control, using a certain tone of voice (pious and reverent) and inflection to put all listeners in a hypnotic trance. It's reassuring and makes them believe everything they hear is true! Seriously!
