need help on housing in So. Cal in the new year-am going down for a bit

I may be going to Southern California for a month or two in the new year. I am looking for a place to live on or by the beach. Where would be a good place to look at? Thanks for your help

I am very flexible. I am coming down for the warm and sun and don't really care where I end up.
