Please forgive this ignorant question. I was baptised LDS when I was a child. My family stopped attending the LDS church due to my parents eternally sealed (lol) marriage coming unglued when I was 11. I do not believe my parents ever formally left the church as members, just quit attending. Here is my question: Do you become a member of the church at baptism or is there some additional hoops you have to jump through? I'd hate to think my name was on a LDS roll somewhere. Thanks!

Baptism.

Age whatever.

They still count you and your family members in their 14 million number. Of course, even after a person resigns with the letter, they will STILL count them in the 14 million number!

Hmm, so I'd have to resign then. Lame.

Your situtation is almost exactly like mine. I was BIC, and baptised at age 8. My parents divorced and I stopped attending when I was 15. I'm 32 now. I just resigned a couple months ago. I had been inactive for 17 years and they still had record of me (maiden name of course.) But yes. Even though I was still a child last time I set foot in a church, they still counted me as a member.
