I confess! I went to Chick-fil-A today!

They may be anti-gay jerks and all, but all this publicity made me think about those juicy chicken sandwiches. The craving started mildly, and has been building for a couple of days.

Today I caved.

I only bought 1 sandwich. Not even a drink.

How can I seek penance?

This just goes to prove, once again, that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

How about donating the same amount to a pro-gay cause? :)

I go because I don't drink koolaid of anyone's kind anymore. If I want that chicken I'm gonna eat it.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I am truly grateful for those that have learned this important lesson from history and know that supporting the rights of others is NOT drinking their koolaid.

Spending millions to take away my rights is not coming after me? What do they have to do, put on Gestapo uniforms?

Reality a concept that should be embraced.

There is a corilation between chick-fil-a and their hateful attack on gays.

That is true no no matter how the customers of chick-fil-a vote.

But Chick Fil-A is funding known hate groups that propagate campaigns that fan the flames of hatred. These are groups that support telling gay children that they are unnatural, that they can change if they undergo reparative therapy.

Even though the tide is changing, you're ok with funding these groups just because at some undefined point in the future gays will be accepted?

If you buy food at Chick Fil-A you do fund these groups. Do you not understand what the boycott is all about?

Seriously, it that such a hard concept to grasp. They became one of those groups by funding groups like exodus, and they got that money from people like YOU.

Everyone who is a patron of Chick Fil-A indirectly funds those anti-gay groups. Even those who are "doing more" to support the cause. They're undoing all of the good they've accomplished by supporting a company that funds known hate-groups. I'm a bit baffled as to why this is so hard for you to understand.

It's like a Civil Rights Activist in the 60s buying from a business run by the KKK.

Do you know nothing about politics? Millions are spent on politics because that is how they change the vote of others.

Nothing to see here. Please pull forward to the next window to complete your order. Thanks for shopping at Chick Fil-A!

The Jews probably felt that way before the halocaust started---some of them even denied it while it was happening because they couldn't believe it.

Open your eyes.
BTW, I wouldn't even know where to find a Chick Fil-A, much less eat there.

MJ, I just don't like people telling me what to do. I have gay friends, and I know chick-fil-a gives to causes that don't support gay marriage, etc., but I have been preached to enough in my life. I AM pro gay marriage. I believe in equal rights. I just am tired of being told where I can eat or what to do by people.
I played up the loving their icecream thing before. I don't even care about icecream. And I don't like their chicken because they have soggy batter on it so it is not a place I go. BUT if I wanted to, I would.
Not supporting the Mormon church doesn't make a person anti-mormon.

Yes, you believe in gay marriage, but you will donate to anti-gay marriage causes for a free thank you gift of waffle fries.

Action speak louder than words. And your message to me is that you SAY you support gays and gay marriage but you are not willing to DO anything to show that support.

You would have far greater effectiveness for your cause if you would work on influencing people's opinions and votes, rather than harping on a damn chicken restaurant.

Not what you're NOT doing, but what are you DOING?

8 years running security for 3 major gay pride events a year, 3 years working gay and lesbian hot lines, 3 years working with homeless gay an lesbian teens, decades of fund-raising for AIDS, decades of gay activism including letter writing, visiting politicians, campaigning for gay friendly politicians, underusing for various ballot measures, attending many more protests than I can count... The list goes on, and on.

But most importantly, standing up to ignorance wherever I find it.

And this is one. Doubt that you would ever be able to grasp why, but that would be YOUR problem.

So, tell me BG, what have YOU actually done to make the world a better place?

I considered saying that, but, being a gay guy that had straight sex for years, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I went yesterdy only because I had some free sandwich coupons I got in the mail. Guess who was there? The youth group from the church. It looked like they had just come from some kind of sporting activity. I could tell they were mormon because most of the girls had girls camp shirts on.
