Religion rarely improves people; all too often, it simply provides another range of opportunity to express arrogance and contempt for others, human or animal. The marshall's remark is despicable and betrays the true mindset of the "Lord's Chosen." I can hardly keep from crying when I think of that innocent creature, trapped and suffering for who knows how long...

Poor kitty... This kind of stuff just breaks my heart. I hope the cat is reincarnated into the person who kills Jeffs.

Also, burying the kitty in the pole would have been much quicker and more merciful. Now its suffering was prolonged by days and it died in the end anyway.

There is no way that kitten got in there on its own.

(The metal pole was taller than a human and there were no trees or anything for the kitten to have climbed up.)

And even though the kitten died, the men who tried to save it didn't know it would die. At least when it did die it did so with medical treatment and care from humans with a shred of empathy. It didn't die terrified in a metal pole.

Its suffering basically ended as soon as it got to the animal clinic -- which would have provided pain medication as needed.
