Forgive me if this has been done before.

I have always wondered what organization is 'behind the curtain' of the corporation they call 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints'.

Any theories? I think it must be an old, rich mafia-style family who have always been in the picture but not in the spotlight...

One things for sure, its not those 12 dinosaurs dribbling on themselves every general conference. Come on, who holds their leashes??

Please include links/pics anything. I really am interested. Its kind of a scary idea, really, thinking that there is a sort of underground network behind Tommy Monson's adorkable smile (hahahaha jk *shudders)

Isn't that the 'patriarchal grip' or whatever they call it?

I find that picture incredibly disgusting. No WONDER that TSCC is trying so hard to get Romney on the presidential throne. I bet that TSCC is buying votes...

I think the P.R. department and the legal department run it.

That's probably as good a guess as any. I imagine it is kind of like the guys who ruled the old Soviet Union, or the guys who run China or North Korea. You have an official chart of leaders with their ranks, but there are some guys who are more powerful then their official title, simply because of their personality. It probably changes, as people die, or make small little power plays behind the scene, or have an embarrassing moment, such as making a really stupid prophecy or doctrinal utterance that is shown to be in conflict with other such nonsense.

+1

when the apostle's words get edited to make them less inflammatory (BKP's 2010 oct conference address) you have to think 'who holds more power, the apostle or the PR dept'

I had a friend who worked at Kirton & McConkie who told me that they are afraid of losing the LDS Church as a client. There are other law firms around who could do the job, so they charge them a low rate to keep them. They've gone through at least two PR firms, so it's not them either.

The BIG 15 run TSCC. However, they delegate most of the decision making to the COB. The BIG 15 are no different than a Board of Directors at a corporation. TSCC is a corporation, no doubt about it. They are mostly concerned with revenues (by increasing membership) and generating more profits.

There's a Presiding Council, I've heard.

Who sits on that council? It's anyone' guess.

Yeah, when I worked for the Church, my pay stub said it was from the Corporation of the Presiding Bishopric, or some such thing. I forget the exact wording.

I would agree that it's the people in that Church Office Building, who run all the different departments, including the Financial one. They're the people I had to keep in touch with.

You think there's some éminence grise behind the 15 thrones? Fat chance! LOL!

The cult is an extortion ring legally protected as a corporation sole. The guy who sits as Profit, Pee-er and Palaverator is the not-so-grise éminence. The other 14 are there to make sure he doesn't fuck up their enterprise in any way, or else.

The problem is, that the top 15 are old fools.
They're figureheads and dont really convey the aura of 'decision makers'
look at the recent holland interview...he can barely even lie convincingly
monson is senile
I dont think there has to be an éminence grise, [ever seen 'Yes, Minister'?] I see it as more like the position with the Minister(s) and the civil service

Well we have 535 members of Congress, and a President and Vice President. At any given time the majority of them are old fools who can barely even lie convincingly and are distinctly senile. Yet they continue to run the country. Are they supported by the Civil Service? Sure. But we don't let the Civil Service vote on legislation: we let 535 lying, senile old fools do that.

The 1stP and Q12 are white-collar thugs who run an extortion ring. They know how to run "the business" just as efficiently as any Mafia don. Asking one of them (like Holland) religious questions and expecting anything other than bad lies is like asking Dawood Ibrahim to pontificate on theology and expecting to hear some kind of eternal wisdom. Ain't gonna happen.

It (via its bureaucrats) starts making decisions that further its own existence instead of the leaders or owners' agendas.

Wow....So, does that picture mean, it's "all" an old boys club? Are they all free masons?
Is it possible that mormonism is a front or a sub group of free masonry and very few know it?

If you mean the Donald, I don't think so. I was kidding. To me it looks like he doesn't feel like shaking hands.
