Speaker in SM today noted that logic is bad because it can be used to draw a person away from the church.
Hmmm.... If simple logic can draw someone away from something, that something must be pretty weak.

v. 10: "And now come, saith the Lord, by the Spirit, unto the elders of his church, and let us reason together, that ye may understand;"
v. 11: "Let us reason even as a man reasoneth one with another face to face."
v. 12: "Now, when a man reasoneth he is understood of man, because he reasoneth as a man; even so will I, the Lord, reason with you that you may understand."

Looking forward to a follow-up sacrament talk from that same speaker, denouncing the Mormon God of Reason and Logic.

My sister said to stay away from philosophy because it is not faith promoting (rolling my eyes).

Truth can withstand scrutiny.
There are a couple of TBMs I associate with who warn about getting too much education. Thinking = bad, blind obedience = good.
It reminds me of the old film they used to show in seminary about training the horse to obey without question and in spite of all circumstances. Total faith and suppressing all questions.
