I recently started a thread about the Manti Pageant and found out there were a few other exmo's here. I previously thought there were probably less than five. From my POV, probably a little less than half the Mormons here are varying degrees of Jack-Mormon. For many of them, based on any outward signs (dress/WoW/vulgarity/etc) you would never have any idea that they were a Mormon. So unless you criticized the church in front of them, then you wouldn't have a clue. So anyway, how many exmo's ARE here??

I resigned a little over year ago, my spouse is a jack-mo. TSSC is a mighty sore subject at our house.

mckay in Mt. pleasant. Of course I left before I ever got deeply involved, as soon as I left my parents home.

I've been there many times. I used to have family there. My Aunt owned the funeral home from the late 1940's until she died in 1996. Beautiful little town.

I'm here in Sanpete. I've been discovering a few others around here too. I'm getting the impression that there are more and more around here that are getting fed up with the church. Still, need to be careful to not release too much info, had a run in with a local who was trying to stir up some trouble for me.

Hi anona.

I've met a few others recently who've left. Good to see our numbers grow.

However after moving to Utah, I was told that the term applied only to people from Sanpete county. Is it true your ancestors survived the winters on carrots?

I love Sanpete County. And Fountain Green may be a crazy little town filled with characters...but it's MY crazy little town!!! The people are so kind, even after we've left the Church. I've rarely felt condemned or "left out" of the loop.

Contact me through the board if you'd ever like to talk.

Been to Fountain Green once...in a hearse...with a body in the back...long time ago (about 1963)...it's complicated...

Wendell Jacobson was on the court of love panel when I was disfellowshipped for apostasy. Not long after I resigned from the church/social club. Never could stand that self-righteous puts.

My experience of living in Ftn. Green after having my name removed hasn't been too favorable. Perhaps because I wasn't a Sanpete native but one of those intellectual outsiders stirring the pot.

I used to live two houses up from Swendell. Right besides Ivory's.
Haven't been there for ten years.

Best Regards,

ST

He had a young man castrated so he could have the kids girlfriend.

Of course, Brigham felt to sustain the Bishop, and then set forth the standard by which the church operates:
Let the matter drop and it will die out among the people.

Everything is hush, hush about that, except for the rumors he and his family tell about it.

He'll never be on RfM exactly because he's not honest.

And Wendell, if I'm wrong about you and you're lurking here, be honest!

Grew up in Moroni. I'm still getting over that after all these years. Hail and well-met, Sanpeters.

I was raised in Ephraim, and all my forebears were originial settler of Ephraim, Spring City, Manti and Sterling as well as the original founder of Castle Dale when BY sent he and his family with Orange Seeley to settle that place.
I am in the area for the summer visiting family and still contemplating, do I REALLY want to move back here after being away for 38 years?

My mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother were all born in Fairview. Yes, some of them were characters.

My son's wife and family are from Manti. Some of them are jack mormons, all of them are nice people, very tolerant of me.
I live down in Sevier county.
