Won't carry a vodka that mormons may find offensive. It's called Five Wives Vodka. Sheesh, if they were really concerned about offending mormons they'd quit selling liquor altogether wouldn't they?

protestants don't recognize the Pope

jews don't recognize Jesus

Mormons don't recognize Each Other at the liquor store (or the Adult Bookstore).

They shouldn't ever be in a liquor store to begin with!

I don't see anything that indicates that the five wives are necessarily married to one man.

I think someone would have to make quite an effort to be offended by this.

I wonder if they think the movie Seven Brides for Seven Sons is offensive. By this logic I guess that would be a total of 49 brides.

My guess is that someone threatened by competition is lobbying. You'll notice in the article that another Utah beer, Polygamy Porter, is available. As mushinja points out, "Five Wives" doesn't even necessitate polygamy; it could be five men.

Someone doesn't want more Ogden's Own in Idaho, and they're using this as an excuse.

what is even more hilarious, is that you can go to the local grocery store here in Idaho and buy Polygamy Porter beer.

Does Idaho have a lot of liquor stores? I live in walking distance of three, and I don't even live in a bad part of town. There are also two strip clubs, two adult novelty shops, and a head shop within the same grid. Strange thing, there is not a pile of unsolved murders or roving gangs of rapist running around.

No not really. There's only one within walking distance of my house - half hour there, half hour back. Lots of head shops and tatoo parlors tho - probably a dozen within walking distance.

That's dumb of them to assume its a dig at polygamy. Maybe a group of five wives started the company, each of them with their own husband.

Note the linked article is from May. Since the media attention (and threats by the distiller to sue), Idaho reversed its decision, and it is now available.
