I love when peer-reviewed journals combine science with sex to the detriment of superstition.

I understand that in the name of science, several board members are googling the term Oral Sex right now, in order to see if they can find more information on this subject.

And people here don't seem to understand what "pre-eclampsia" means.

A woman's body having previous exposure to the sperm of the father of her child slightly reduces the chances of her body rejecting the pregnancy.

Preeclampsia is when a pregnant woman develops high blood pressure and protein in the urine after the 20th week (late 2nd or 3rd trimester) of pregnancy.
Preeclampsia can KILL you.

There's evidence that pre-eclampsia is related to the maternal immune system rejecting the placenta, at least in some cases.

Anyway, it's not saying that oral sex is the only cure. Sexual intercourse prior to actually getting pregnant seems to have a similar effect. It's just saying that exposure to the father's semen prior to the pregnancy reduces the chances of the mother's immune system reacting against the fetus or placenta, both of which contain the father's DNA.

and protect your kidneys.
This is a bunch of BS. Just like the Evolutionary Advantage people who use this bogus reasoning to rationalize anything -- even rape.

" An extension of the present study is necessary to verify this hypothesis.". So basically, more research has to be done.

Please note that the protective attribute of oral sex for preeclampsia is only for "swallowers" who actively expose their immune systems to the HLA antigens on the sperm as opposed to "spitters"

in fact it would not be the preferred method for exposure.
It is pure speculation, at any rate.

A major gripe here: Most of the males here seem to be forgetting that oral sex works both way. You are assuming it only means one thing. It does not.

A lot of men enjoy cunnilingus on their woman, myself included.

The preferred method of exposure and desensitization might be intravenous HLA exposure, from sperm or other fluids. Barring that, felatio is a universally acceptable alternative to all involved.

Preeclampsia is caused by a immune reaction of the mother to unrecognized HLA antigens on the fetus, some of which are derived from the father. It is therefore utterly unnecessary and inconsequential for the father to be desensitized with the maternal HLA antigens through cunnulingus.

Think of fellatio as a prophylactic immunization against preeclampsia.

For healthy, safe pregnancies, felate.

The stomach acids would pretty well take care of it. Having regular sex would be far more effective.
If it even were effective -- it's pure speculation.

The theory is that the proteins get into the blood stream faster through the digestive system, where the immune system has a better chance of picking up on them.

Well, it’s just like Samantha from Sex and the City use to say…’You want head, you’ve got to be willing to give head.”

Clearly what is needed is a sample where one group of women give oral sex to one group of guys, but gets impregnated by a second group of guys. I volunteer to be in the first group of guys.

I'm not going to get myself in trouble on this one.

I would, however, very much like to know if anyone plans to mail these articles to President Packer...?

Yes, I admit that I did read that in Cracked, but I figured I would site the actual study that they used.
