There were two young lady Mormon missionaires here at my house to visit my elderly non active but believing Mormon mother.
When the mishies of nay sort come, they leave a calling card on the door that advertises their siye at www.mormon.org .
It is so silly that this site is advertised so much byt eh church as a a site where everybody who is interested or curious can find accurate and reliable information about the church and its beliefs.I was an active in my youth Mormon from 1985 to 1996.I know Mormons believe god was once a human man and that they believe they can achieve eventual godhood in the celestial kingdom. The site advertised mentions none of the teachings I believed as a Mormon.

Are there any former missionaires who have been involved in advocating that website to curious or interested people? How did you justify the site as providing a reasonable amount of information about what would be expected ofa person if they became a Mormon?or it providing reliable information about mormon beliefs on God being once a man etc?

Maybe our definitions of youth are different!

I was baptized at age 10 in 1985 and left at age 21 in 1996.

Honestly, we just gave people the cards and told them to check out the website to learn more. As missionaries, we weren't allowed to actually check the site out, as we were only allowed to use the internet to e-mail our families once a week.

I never viewed the site myself during the mission, since we didn't have access to computers (so much evil out there doncha know). We had the address to the German site on some of our literature, and wrote it on some of our call back cards.

The Germans were not generally interested in Mormonism in any way. We were desperate to get them to pay attention to anything we had--let alone have full and complete information. I did have some concerns about how little information was in the discussions that we would give, and how fast we were encouraged to move people through (if we could get them).

But hey, as we know one can be in the LDS church for years and have serious blind spots.
