...ok, is babycenter riddled with lds people or something?? Why do their threads keep popping up here! Also, that topic is just begging for more sensible people to intervene.
Things I know to be true... man originated in africa. evolution earth is billions of years old etc
Yikes!! You read a lot of "this church is true" in that posting thread. Ignoring all of the other reasons I hated being a member, hearing testimonies parroted for three hours on Sunday drove me insane. I mean, come on, there are lots of truths that i have that i don't repeat like Rain Man..."I know my car is gray"..."I have a testimony that the sun will come up tomorrow"..."I have validated the Pythagorean Theory"...SO WHAT???? Why do they feel the need to repeat and repeat. I wish they would shut up and contribute some Original thought to the world--then I might respect them. As it is, not so much.
Sorry for the rant. Reading through the posting found through the link brought up the frustration that I felt when I was a member. Being a member felt like wearing shoes two sizes too small; just was not a fit. I love my life now and in no way can this church be construed as anything but a cult. Any church that seeks to control its members through behavioral dictates (no coffee, really?) and secretive administration is just one level above Jonestown. Kool-aid, anyone? Not me, not anymore.
Lost Mystic...you are welcome and I KNOW that you know your dresser is made of wood. I really felt that you know it. And because you said it so convincingly, my dresser is made of wood, too. Even though it's laminate.
I hope you could follow my sarcasm through that one. :)
Hearing your words of knowing your laminate dresser is made of wood made me know that mine still is made of wood even more than before, except for my fleeting doubt that it might be laminate too and made me want to check but convinced myself that alas, it must be wood since we both know and have stated so!
Good god, I was tempted to register so I could login and leave a comment. I wanted to act like I believed the Hocus-Pocus Momo Church and just spout off numerous blackeyes of the church and then end it with "...but I have felt His presence and I have faith that everything will work out, and I KNOW this Church is true....In the name of cheese and rice, Amen."

"Osmosis, photosythesis and gravity. I know that the earth revolves around the sun, and I know that Kolob is God's planet. I know that some day they will find the remains of all those millions of people who were killed in battles in the Book of Mormon, along with their weapons, thus proving that it is true."
