What room would you choose if you were going to stay at the Madonna inn and why? Assume that it was free so price was not a consideration.

Go to this page for photo's of each of the rooms. Give it a moment to load the pictures then moving the pointer over the URL will show you the picture.

The room I would pick is the Caveman room. Why? I knida like the primitive sorta feel

They all make me cringe. I like to feel relaxed and zen, more of a minimalist. Those rooms are all so busy! Staying there would be a bit of sensory overload for me.

Ditto.

The rooms remind me of basement rec rooms from the 70s.

Sorry, MJ! ;-)

Sorry - totally agreed with BadSheep and spaghetti. Very busy - stimulus overload for an introvert and peace-lover like me. :)

Tough choice!I think I would go with the Jungle Rock room because since it has the cool colours along with the rock wall. What a lovely hotel!

Bit of Solvang. It wasn't too busy and it has a waterfalls and fireplace.

Also liked carin & elegance. Most of them had too flashy wallpaper for my taste.

Starlight's not too bad - more blues and greens. Don't like the hot colors much.

Though, if I was dead set on suicide, and needed a place to stay that I know would push me over the edge, Pony Room would do the trick.

Dated for sure, but not a lot going on in that room.

Nope- don't like it...I mean minimalist...a hard wood floor and yoga mats and a great big matteress on the floor..

I just want a big room with lots of windows and light..

and a view of the ocean...

Vous, I mean.

We've stayed there a couple times.

What can I say. We like stuff that's tacky and kitschy.

Daisy Mae. It look a little like my greatgrandmothers celler, though the ceilings seem higher.
Linda cave-ish. Most of my childhood I had a secret hiding place that involved caves, holes in the ground,or abandonded buiilding basements.

I like the caveman, because it is the only one that looks interesting to me. I'm actually a bit surprised that nobody has built a place like this in my community. Then again, most of our tourist are of the college kids looking to get drunk variety.

The Madonna in is in San Luis Obispo, it is a college town.

One of the cabin type rooms, ideally with a fireplace. The bright colors are too much for me in a lot, but some of those subdued ones with a lot of rock look nice.

Known affectionately as "SLO" (pronounced "slow") town, it is far enough off the coast to stay out of most of the summer fog, but it near to the ocean so trips to the beach are easy.

It is a cool place for a slow down and chill vacation. I can give a list of some things worth doing when visiting.

A lot to recommend it.

When traveling, I stay at Best Western. Nothing fancy, just clean rooms and cheap attached eateries. Don't spend much time at the hotel anyway. Eat and sleep is about it.

HOWEVER ...

Gatherings are a different thing. For such events, I be diggin' places like Madonna Inn.

In my beer drinking days I made use of those facilities more than once.

And 133 is cool.

None of the above. They can't compare to the Westin in Savannah, which was the nicest hotel I ever stayed in.

American Beauty or Showboat.....those are okay and maybe two more. The rest gawdy!

Oh my God, the American Home room...I thought something was coming through the wall! It took me a minute to figure out it was a rock fireplace. It looked like something CGI from Avatar.

Bit of Solvang--having been to Solvang many, many times I can say that this is possibly the only bit of Solvang that looks like someone vomited up a meal of Delft plates.

"Wilhelm Tell" looks like a bad dream you'd have after drinking too many rum and cokes in a bordello. Likewise "San Francisco"--if you are in a room like that in San Francisco, the girl you are with is charging by the hour.

The Madonna Suite is an nightmare. Those roses on the carpet are screaming "FEED ME, SEYMORE!"

ETA It reminds me of the Lileks site, "The Gobbler". http://www.lileks.com/institute/motel/index.html
