http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/05/17/1092311/-BREAKING-NEWS-Pharmacist-Refusing-To-Sell-Antibiotics

A Washington state pharmacy is refusing to sell antibiotics, saying the state's true goal is to suppress religious objections by druggists – not to promote timely access to the medicines for people who need them.

“’Anti’ means against, and ‘bio’ means ‘life’,” said Stuart Pidhick, pharmacist and owner of Footprints Pharmacy, “and Christians aren’t anti-life, we’re pro-life.”

Critics have questioned the reasoning behind his refusal to stock and sell antibiotics. “This is just plain stupid,” said May Dupname, microbiologist and researcher. “I can’t believe this jackass is licensed in the first place. “

When questioned about the intersection of his religious beliefs and accepted medical ethics, Pidhick responded, “I mean what I say, and say what I mean. There’s nothing Hippocratic about it.”

According to Dupname, refusing to sell antibiotics misses the entire point of medical treatment. “Whether it’s bacterial, viral, fungal –- whatever -- you kill the disease, and save the patient. The patient’s life always comes first.”

Pidhick disagrees. “The Bible says we are judged by how we treat the smallest among us,” said Pidhick, “You don’t get any smaller than bacteria, and bacteria just ain’t viable outside the human body.”

“We believe life begins at infection.”

I live in Washington state. And yes, it's sadly plausible. :)

With names like May Dupname (made up name) and Stuart Pidhick (stupid hick), yeah, it's a spoof.
But I've heard that line of bull before. Thirteen years ago I'd had my dog put to sleep. She had cancer as it turned but initially it was thought she had a throat infection and she was treated with antibiotics. A ding dong lady at church said that thing about antibiotic meaning anti life, therefore the antibiotics probably killed my dog. We were in the chapel or I might have smacked her face. I sure wanted to.

"Your dog died and it's your fault." (Shut up before I cram your self righteousness up your nether regions!)

And I totally missed the names! Thanks for pointing those out to me. :D

Buddhist perhaps

seems to me the Dali Lama or another monk had difficulties when they were building a temple/sanga. He was concerned for the worms. Had people rescue them.

Maybe this guy is in the wrong country

smiles slyly

seems wierd too that this view of his would suddenly surface

I have encountered the writings of several LDS leaders, JS and McConkie in particular, who discouraged medical intervention, because it reduced the opportunity for miraculous healing.

I once met a Mormon woman who was a convert from Christian Science, and very bitter because in her chidhood faith, she was denied the medical help she needed.

I attended a Christian Science church for about 7 months. I was accompaning an elderly lady. She had been in that church her whole life. Fairly well-known artist too.

I got the book and read.
Reminding myself I was getting fantastic pay for my time with her and food to boot, but.. I was unimpressed.

Her son was a prominent Doctor in town.
She used what ever her son brought to her medication wise and signed a check to the church each month.

She used real butter too, I adopted that one

musing

the butter was the best I came away with lol
