How can anyone love a person that wants you to abandon everything you are?

It is close to a murder, a complete abandonment of the self, back to back to a shepeard that wants you to abandon everything your are.

It is impossible.

This impossibility I think is super-natural in character, and at the same time the complete proof that the humanity is very stupid.

Well said mindlight...

Often people need someone to leave them to learn how to love truly. Often one feels like they love a person when what they really want is to destroy the person at a core level.

It can be painful then to walk away from them and let them suffer and mourn and rage and realize that that is part of their maturation process.

I am a people and community observer and one thing I have noticed is just how many people who leave the Church are "LONERS"" They can deal with isolation and shunning from the community .. However some people draw near to the edge of the Church and are cready to draw away but the fear of not having a community support group, just frightens them to death and their life begins to unravel..

Who will I talk to at work ?
Who will my children associate with??
Will my wife divorce me ??
Will my family disown me ??

I know it is scary, but if they ( family or Church leaders) identify with the Church to the exclusion of everything and everyone else, then how can you really gain respect from those type of people who see this type of blind obedience as a most wonderful character trait...

What they actually want from you is to be the version of you they have molded into being obedient and submissive to authority. Also to lower your expectations of expanding your own conscience..

Good luck in finding your true self ??
