I was chatting with a Catholic co-worker who said the Mormon idea of the afterlife is strange...which is a hilarious thing for a Catholic to say...but that's not my point here.

I asked her what her idea of heaven is. She said it's a paradise where you get to be with Jesus forever.

I told her that's where Mormons believe she will go as a good Catholic.

She asked where good mormons will go and I told her they believe the women in the highest kingdom will be expected to crank out billions of babies for all eternity to populate the planets created by their husbands. I also told her, according to many mormons, a good Mormon woman will also have to share her husband with an unknown number of other women for eternity.

She thought I was joking. She (as do I) doesn't understand why a Mormon would choose the highest kingdom over the terrestrial kingdom. She says the celestial kingdom just sounds awful.

It's amusing I used to take that so seriously.

Yes, I'll never forget walking home from school one day with my best friend. She turned to me and said,

"I don't know who else to tell this, but I don't think I believe the church is true...I mean the Celestial Kingdom sounds awful anyway. If the church really is true, I wouldn't want to go there anyway. "

At the time it shocked me to hear that, but it really sunk in, and years later, I have thanked her for that conversation. What woman in her right mind would want that? Sounds like hell if there ever was one.

This is amazing to me. Once an idea is established, it becomes a core, totally correct concept to the believers, some for thousands of years.

It doesn't sound so bad from a man's perspective.

Well if you think about it what with Jospeh Smith's polyandry and all, everyone will pretty much just get sealed to everyone - it's just going to be a big eternal orgy.

My very TBM sister has always told me she's shooting for the middle because the CK sounds more like hell to her. She did make her husband promise in writing that he would never be sealed to anyone else though. Just in case. She's not good at sharing.

The best mormons get to live in a place like Beverly Hills.

The not quite as good mormons get to live in a place kind of like Burbank; it's nice but not as nice as BH.

Unbelievers live in Colton.

cranking out spirit children. That is the women do. The men will always be on the move between the house in Beverly Hills (and the wife who lives there), the house in Hillsbourough (and the wife there), and the places and wives in Scarsdale, McLean, etc.

The Mormons who didn't make the highest degree -- such as the ones who didn't enter the covenant of celestial marriage -- will live in the same places but functioning as servants or managers to those at the top. Being a ministering angel sounds more appealing to me

the thing that used to piss me off about mos is that they would justify their materialism under the idea that the glories and spoils of the Savior's new empire would be like capitalism.

The Christ I read about in the Bible doesn't seem like someone who would have a doorway in his home the size of Mt. Timpanogos and that he would expect other faith members, but not so bright, to be in the glorified trailor park down by Utah Lake.

They are all a bunch of brain washed TOOLS

A multi-level heaven is the concept of a wanna be penthouse occupant.

Emanuel Swedenborg = Heaven and Hell = An entire section on "The Three Heavens = I believe published in 1797.
Smith and Cowdery both had easy access to it.
My mistake it was originally published in 1858
My mistake again----typo--- should read 1758 not 1858

Since you're on the subject of the Mormon heaven, I have a question for all of you. I'm under the impression that the reason Mormons have so many kids is to be with them forever on their planet. Whose planet do you end up going to, though? What I mean is, and I'll use Mitt R. as an example, will he be one of the kids on his parents' planet, or will he be the god of his own planet that he and Ann are the leaders of? Since all of their boys have families, will they be on Mitt and Ann's planet or will each boy have his own planet? I'm so confused by this one.

Ummm, if you're a mormon, you're not supposed to ask those kinds of questions.

the answer is: We don't know. You'll know all that in the next life.

for the mortal birth and existence of all of his spirit children with one of his wives. (Each wife will share one planet with him.) Of course he won't actually live on any of these planets -- just as no divine being is in permanent residence now here on earth.

If all dogs go to heaven, it's gonna be real bad when Mitt sticks his Celestial Canine on top of the station wagon for a trip to visit the in-laws on Zeta Reticuli.

So, what happens if we get to a kingdom, and then decide we don't want to be there and desire to exercise our agency and NOT be a servant or a plural wife?

Do we get a choice?

I stopped thinking much about these things, and it was such a relief! I concluded that no one knows what happens to our conciousness after we die. The guy who thinks he knows and is telling you about it is full of BS, because HE'S NEVER BEEN DEAD!

I don't fear death, either. It's what's supposed to happen, and happens to everybody, right? We'll just have to wait and be surprised. If I just poof into oblivion, that'll be ok too, because I won't be there to think about it.

The 2nd Heaven is Outer Space.

The 1st Heaven is Earth's Atmosphere, which consists of 5 layers.

Hell or Outer Darkness is in the Center of the Earth (per Isaiah & Jesus in Matthew).

The RC and LDS views are both seriously flawed.

John the Beloved Apostle (who never died) was changed & caught up to. See also 3rd Nephi 28 in the BoM.
This is the ONLY and TRUE correct interpretation of 2 Cor.12:2.
