I emailed my resignation on April 6th and waiting impatiently for some type of response, on April 28th I replied to the email asking for the status on my resignation.

Today I got a letter in the mail dated April 30th stating my local bishop (who I have never met, talked to, or heard from quite yet) would be in touch to handle things before the church employees could finish processing me as being out.

yeehaw!!! I have read people say once I get this acknowledgement I can consider myself out but I personally won't be satisfied and consider myself as out until the next letter saying so.

I wonder if they ignored my email from the 6th and my follow up email on the 28th was the 1st they did anything with since their letter to me was conveniently dated 2 days later...or if I was just in a long line of resignations waiting to be handled after my original email on the 6th and they would have gotten around to me on the 30th anyway without a follow up email? I'm sure its the 1st option, but I'm still curious.

Sounds like your April 6 email might have gotten lost. When I emailed my resignation, that first snail mail, "local ecclesiastical matter" letter was dated the day of the email.

About two weeks later, I got the bishop form letter; six weeks after that, my second SLC letter.

So, yeah, you have joined the ranks of ex-Kolobians! Congratulations.

When I sent in my resignation email, they first sent me that same message, that it would have to be handled by the local bishop,,,, as well as an invite to rejoin the fold. that took them about a month. I waited and another 2 months later -which was actually just last week :) -they sent me another letter telling me that my name was officially off the count. so it took a while...

I am still worried that they may not really have taken if off :/ I've heard that the Membership Records Department is very efficient and easy to work with, but I'm still afraid that there could be a mistake.... so I think I will still call them just to make sure its really off... :)
