A Poster mentioned on the Great and Spacious Mall post that senior missionaries are already called to serve in for profit holdings of the church. Is this true? Which ones?

Well, there was an article in the Des News, I think called "tending the flock", that told of a Missionary couple called to serve on one of the Church's for profit hunting reserves.

Check out Berberian Nut Company http://www.manta.com/c/mtgq3zp/berberian-nut-company-llc

Senior couples are/have been called to serve missions there. I learned that from reading in my newspaper that a couple had served a mission there.

An elderly couple in my old ward served a mission at the PCC in Hawaii. The husband was well-connected, as he had worked in the church for years as a paid employee. So when he was called to be a Facilites Maintenance manager at the PCC, he got to do his old job for free. The PCC is a for-profit business owned by the church. It is one of the most, if not the most, popular tourist attractions in Hawaii.

In the '90's, there were a lot (more than 12) of senior mishies working for Hawaii Reserves (formerly Zion's Securities) in Laie. I imagine this practice continues.

Check out the "missionary opportunites" posted in every ward house, on the chapel's bulletin board. It is usually several colored pages stapled together. The PCC maintenanc job is there, a PCC vehicle fleet manager was posted a while back, there are office jobs too...lots of jobs you can do for free for the morg.

My favorite part is the monthly dollar amount posted, it is not how much you will be "paid", forget that...it is how much you are expected to pay for the opportunity to work for free.

I ask this in all seriousness.
How in the world does l$d inc. manage to keep its 503 non profit charity status?
I'm not a corporate law student, and even I can see this is bs.
Really. Is that even legal?
