They want to be able to crush freedom of speech by being able to see a different point of view of the Mormon church than the one they try to make everybody see on a site like www.mormon.org .

It takes courage to publicly do something like this when you consider the numbers and power the Mormon have when they protest against the way they are potrayed in the media froma non mormon persspective.

Check out the comments from mormons complaining it was bigoted and biased. They are fuming like everything you see about Mormons on television is bigoted if is does not portray what they want to portray.

Not long ago it was the fastest growing religion in the world today.

Wonder what happened!

"We're a shining example to the world. Why doesn't the world see us that way?"

Hahahahaha!

Anything that does not portray the church in the best possible light is an attack against it.

Someone from our old ward was heard to say "it's just like Jackson County all over again". Really, sister? Is the church burning gentile homes and getting in trouble for it? Is the church being killed by fellow citizens in the US? No. The news is simply reporting the simple things seen in everyday mormon life.

They don't like the criticism? Well, they'd better get used to it, because there's a lot more on the way.

They described him as a "former Mormon bishop" when we at RfM all know he was a SP for 8 years and any SP being told "you were just a Bishop" would feel slighted. However I bet most Aussies don't know what a SP is since the stone filling the whole earth with knowledge of Mormonism has barely made a scratch in that funny-English-speaking country on the bottom half of the world. But they know what a diosces (spelling ??) bishop is which is the equivalent of what a SP is. Otherwise it looks like the Aussies got a fine education on Mormonism so they can be better prepared on whether to join it or not once the mishies come pedalling their message to them.

Where do you find the comment section? I've looked through all the links and can't find any comments on the article. Are they just tweets?

And kudos to those here who participated, some risking a lot... There's a "cameo" of at least one well-respected RFM-er...

I'm not going to wade in; I was checking back on one of my last "pissing contests," and I see there's a TBM who's saying that Mormons didn't dress as Indians at Mountain Meadows, and no children under the age of nine were slain...

That was a few weeks ago, but I may give him some cognitive restructuring nevertheless.

said they were contacted by the church in Australia BEFORE the show went to air saying it WAS a missed opportunity to show the real church they know. This is the real church, at least in the Utah theocracy.

Yeah, the "real" church, as portrayed in sanitized and well-scrubbed propaganda pieces designed to make Mormonism attractive to potential converts.

The mormon telegraph is on high-voltage alert.

Has the word "true" ever before appeared so often in a blog before?

Yes friends the church does keep big files on those that they are afraid would cause them trouble. Mine has been described by one Bishop friend as a foot high. It is very real, and has been brought up to me many times. They have reasons to worry - not about me,but about themselves and their lies. The have dug their hole and I know how deep it is. Satan loves them and their lies and horrible actions against his children, However God does take a different point of view!

Why do journalists keep repeating the fastest growing religion lie? Yeah I realize it makes the story sound more important, but it is not true. Do some independent reaearch!

I believe it is the same or at least based on the same by BBC reporter John Sweeney. I have included the promotional material about this show.

"A startling investigation into America's fastest growing religion and the former Mormon bishop who says he now wants to be President of the United States.

He's been described as the Republican Presidential candidate from central casting. Good looks, lots of money and powerful connections. But Mitt Romney is a Mormon and there are many, even inside his own political party, who say they simply can't vote for him. This week Four Corners presents a BBC investigation into an organisation that may yet destroy Mitt Romney's attempt to become the most powerful leader in the world.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) has been described by some as the ultimate American religion. Based on the Christian tradition, it was founded by Joseph Smith Jnr in the early 19th Century in the United States. However, some claim the Mormons act more like a cult than a religion. BBC reporter John Sweeney investigates claims that the organisation brainwashes its members and targets people who leave the faith - keeping dossiers on them and telling their families, who remain in the church, to shun them.

The investigation looks at Mitt Romney's work as a Mormon bishop and includes a revealing interview with the politician's second cousin Park Romney, who says the church is a fraud and that after he left he was followed by people he believed were acting on behalf of the church.

The church denies it brainwashes people or forces them to shun members of their family, but that hasn't stopped many voters asking themselves why they would vote for a man who's involved in this religion.
