Just a little note to say thanks to everyone who has posted the e-mail link to resign. I had been putting it off for years and finally got it done thanks to the quick and dirty e-mail format. Got my letter from Dodge within 3 days and my final letter saying I am out within about 3 weeks. (They actually inadvertently sent it twice) My Long story short.... BIC, went to BYU, married my home teacher at 20 in the temple, had three kids quick, stumbled across weird stuff on the internet about mormonism, spent a year reading and trying to prove to myself that it HAD to be true, finally removed my head from my ass and hubby-wubby and I walked away hand in hand. There you have it! ;-)

Just emailed Mr Dodge. I've been inactive for a decade; waiting till Boyd KKK took over to resign as a protest gesture. But this morning, I decided to give myself an early Smithmas present and resign today. Wait a minute, as of the minute I touched the "send" button, that holiday became Christmas for me! Yea!!!!

Thanks to all of you for your support and examples; thanks especially to Richard Packham for your wealth of information.

That is what I think is cool. When you can go out together in freedom. Perfect and glad it was quick.

WoW! By email! I figured they wouldn't do that, thinking it could be a joke or something. WoW. I am not quite ready to hit SEND, but I've got the link bookmarked. THANKS for posting!

I sent them a second email today. The first one was sent on Sep 26th. If I remember they have 60 days, so I guess I am not a member. I have received no confirmation yet, that's why I sent a 2nd request today. I did receive a letter saying they had to send it back to the local bishop, but I have received no contact.

Resignation by email looks very easy, but what about the rest of the family?

It seems to me that we should print out the email, have each member of the family sign it, scan it and attach it as a part of the email resignation letter.

That way, they know that each member is a willing party. Otherwise, it seems likely that the bishop will feel the need to antagonize each family member in order to verify their desire to resign.

Or am I being overly concerned?
