Personally, I don't have a problem with polygamous relationships as long as they're consensual and adult--and the children are safe. If religion is not involved there shouldn't be a problem.

I am guessing it was his great grandparents. My Ggrandparents were polygs, but my granparents were not. My mom was born in the colonies, though and lived there until she was 10 (1930ish)

One of the Romney married my great aunt, but the was the generation that did not seem to be polygs.

Mitt is correct in denying that his grandfather was a polygamist. But that's only part of the complete story: His grandfather was a child in a polygamist family; i.e., Mitt's GREAT-grandfather was a polygamist.

Next question for Mitt: "According to your religion, is it possible that your great-grandfather is now in heaven, enjoying the company of his multiple wives? And, if so, how do you feel about that?"
