I took everything for granted before.

I look at my children and my wife and I realize that once one of us dies, there is a strong possibility I will never see "them" again.

I'm not afraid of that now. I'm absorbing each moment with them with an increasing rate of gratitude.

My experiences with them and with life are real and can never be undone. They happened.

I want to make the most of each moment. These moments are truly sacred. I don't want to procrastinate being a better father or husband.

I used to take it all for granted, thinking that I would have them forever.

Yep, it also makes you appreciate life more.

I have had some health problems that really depressed me. I wondered why God would punish me like he was doing. As I grew out of religion I learned to appreciate life, and be greatful. Not greatful to a God, but just greatful. I looked around the world and realized I was extremely lucky. I was born into a good country where I can believe as I choose. Although my family is full of mormons and that can sometimes be a problem, they are good people. Not because of their mormonism, but in spite of it.

Without religion I treat every day as a gift. I know I have problems and will always have them, but I am unlucky in some regards but much luckier than many people born who had zero shot at having the opportunities in life I have had. There is no afterlife. This is all we have. That is why it is up to us to do everything in our own power to do good for ourselves and the world around us. You do good because it helps others, not because of a point system in the hereafter.

Because I know when someone else dies, they are going to burn in hell forever.

Got to make every moment count.

Yep it is great to know that because someone who does not believe as I do gets to burn forever.

The mormon church is the path to happiness unless you leave it than you are a Son of Perdition deemed to purgatory.
