Ok, first keep in mind that none of it is real and is only there to try and control people.

That being said, to you're wife, it's still very important. What I've been told is that children can ONLY ever be sealed to their birth parents, adopted children can be done with the birth parents consent, or if they can not be located.

Children will end up in their proper station, with any family member that meets that station, or be able to visit anyone on a lower station, with the exception of out darkness, where no one can save you.

That's what I've been told, I have no doubt that there will be several different posters who will tell you that they have been told differently. This 'doctrine' is kept ambiguous on purpose, to make it easier to change when the situation requires.

If you are concerned with your wife's reaction, remind her that heavenly father is all about the family, and that according to the articles of faith, children arent punished for their parents transgression.

I feel for you and I hope that you can work though this. If I can offer another bit of advice... Be patient, your wife could very well become stronger in the church to compensate for your inactivity. It will take time, but keep open lines of communication and do your best to not let the church subvert your family position.

It's going to be ok, hang in there..it's all a great big fairy tale, no one is going anywhere, your children are still yours. Think rationally about all this--I asked our kids who are teens, do you really want to live with us in the same house forever? They were answering yes, until I brought up--what about your spouse, your kids? Don't you want to live with them? Of course! Your kids will be ok aaron85, I promise..but in the meantime stick with your wife and be patient, don't think about the hereafter (if there even is one), think about right now. Right now you need to be there for your family, right now you need to be there for your wife and right now you need to be there for your kids. You can get through this, don't let something stupid like the LDS church break up your family. If it means making compromises, if it means not talking about it for awhile, whatever it takes, think about how much your family is worth to you right now and act accordingly. It will be ok.

So the doctrine is that all family that is terestrial grade will be together in the terestrial kingdom? I thought that there was no family relationships in the terestrial/telestial kingdom unless a family member from the celestial kingdom came down for a visit.

If you already know the handshakes and passwords, don't sweat it, you're in. Just make sure your wife knows your secret name in case she gets resurrected before you (which is possible since secret Temple names are shared by multitudes and when somebody calls for 'Agnes' a zillion women are going to get resurrected).
