Well, sort of ;) So I happen to be in a local production of the musical "Titanic" which opens this weekend, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. And yes, one item that I used to wear in the temple is actually going to be onstage during the second act. It's just the white slippers, and I'm wearing them as one of the 1st class passengers with a nightgown and robe on the sinking ship. What's funny is that the wardrobe person saw them and liked them so much that she sent an email to all the women playing 1st & 2nd class passengers in the cast, telling them to look at my slippers and get a pair as similar as possible to them. All of a sudden I had all these fellow castmates asking me where I got those pretty white slippers......and yes, I told them I used to be Mormon and they were once part of the temple getup. I got a kick out of the image of a large group of performers descending on the temple clothing store next to the DI building asking for the slippers, and the reaction of the staff ;P
Nope, the other ladies had to find a slightly different version, but they're definitely comfortable, which is a plus since we spend most of the show in much less comfortable black Victorian style lace up boots. And if anyone local in the Sacramento/Davis/Vacaville-Fairfield area is interested, you can go to the website for dmtc.org and get tickets to see it! A couple of performances are already sold out. I'm Ida Strauss, wife of Macy's millionare Isidor Strauss. I stay with my husband and go down with the ship.
