I joined over 25 years ago, but a part of me NEEDED to tell him that I found out it was all a lie. I didn't want to be a feel-good faith promoting story for him. I'm glad I did it. :)

Good for you! I think it is important for the ones in it to accept that they didn't make as big of a difference as they think.

For me, I was the missionary and called my converts. When i called my most golden convert, the response was; 'What?, yeah I know that, i was only trying to act nice and not hurt your feelings!'

I also contacted and apologized to my converts. For me it was a matter of integrity (the third step in repentance is restoration!).

my former convert was instrumental in my exit from MORmONISM.
Honesty was the basis for our relationship. It proved to be a deadly arrangement for the MORmON test -o- moneys involved.

...unfortunately I didn't keep their names or addresses (New England Mission, 1971 - 73).

I still feel guilty about interjecting myself in their lives with a false message. I'm hoping that over time they all came to see the light and managed to extricate themselves from religious delusionalism. There were 16 of them in all that I taught and were converted to Mormonism.

I feel ya, I had to tell mine too. He took it really well and still keeps in touch- you could tell he was a little disappointed as he is pretty TBM but he's been weirdly supportive
